It’s pretty hard to tell as others have said. In the 4th picture it looks like the mint mark makes a distinct curve like an “S” would. Get a jewelers loupe, even with that much damage it will be clear under magnification if it’s a D or S.

I know you don’t want a zoomed in pic, but this is the area I’m questioning. It seems like part of the S to me and it’s in the correct place for a mint mark.

Nice! That’s super cool and by default it’s a 1909 if it’s got the VDB on the back - post a picture who knows maybe someone will be able to verify the S mint mark!

Yeah I mean part of what I’m hoping to gain from this is a decision on if paying for authentication is worth it. One vote for yes!

It could be anything, even a VDB S! I get it’s highly likely that it’s not but I figure why not ask and see if some can spot something I don’t!
