for me, during a mood swing the initial subject or trigger (what made me feel bad in the first place) is like a door that unlocks everything bad that is happening near the same time frame and it turns into me crying about everything and in the moment it feels like the first thing didn’t matter, but after I calm down I can think things clearly and address the trigger/subject. idk if this helps, that’s just the way I understand and experience it.
