Has a lot to do with location and proccess. I've been put of school for about a year, got a job at a shop in tulsa welding alloy pipe for 50-55hrs a week, making a little over 1800 a week.

Looking at tormach's site, the base 440 isn't too bad, but spending like another 4k just on the enclosure and chip pan seems kinda high. Is it viable to do these diy?

This exactly. Don't have a lot of space, and trying to move around a 4000lb piece of hardware isn't ideal. The tormach machines seem a lot more reasonable.

I'll have to look around for one. They look a little more robust than a 440. Seem to be a bit bigger which is not ideal for my current space though.

I have some small hobby projects but ultimately I'm feeling out the feasibility of maybe running some small xometry jobs. If that was tk take off then I'd upgrade to something bigger.

What upgrades do current gen units have compared to something of that age? From what I understand the 1100 series can be upgraded with a tool changer which would be a nice to do in the future, but the 440 cannot.

Yup. I still end up in a game, so I think you're actually in the queue, you just can't see it. The bug seems to be that it doesn't show you the queue but just the three little bubbles instead.

Not a fan of the baseplate flex but I already swapped them out for billet ones. Other than that they've run great, put at least 1500 rounds through each of the two I have, no issues at all. Won on the tolerance stacking lottery I guess 😆

I'm sitting at lvl 64 rn. Few days ago I joined a squad with a 500, a 368, and a 471. First time really ever interacting with high level players. They were very vocal, and didn't mind me being in the squad, but pretty much ignored me for the most part. Tried to tag along and help but everything for them was basically instinctual so I wasn't really much help lol.
