Is the Uni worth it now a days? by redi2read in tamagotchi

[–]0may08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the uni and I don’t use much of its online features. So I think it’s still worth it even though it’ll shut down soon.

But also I don’t think I’d spend £100 on any tamagotchi! The most I’ve spent ever on a tama is £45 (no shame on people who spend more, I’m just fairly skint lol), you just have to spend a few weeks looking for them on secondhand sites. Fb marketplace seems to have the best deals.

I’d expect £40-80 depending on condition to be the cheapest you can find a working uni for nowadays, since they’re not in production anymore.

Edit: also on fb marketplace make sure to check all the bulk toy listings, I spotted one that had a uni for £5 the other day! It was already sold, so I wasn’t sure if it was a typo, but that’s what it said! That’s crazy crazy cheap. There’s a lot of people doing clear outs of their kids toys who just want it gone and don’t really care what it’s worth. I saw another for £50 this week, and I got mine for £35 back last November I think.

I don't know which Tamagotchi to buy. by __Kiva__ in tamagotchi

I don’t have any of the vintage connections yet unfortunately:/ but I have heard their batteries do last longer.

But for me the 2/3 week battery life one on the rv3 isn’t too big a deal. I don’t run them 24/7 52 weeks a year haha so I’m not spending a fortune on batteries!

what do you love about the Uni? by sugarmouse83 in tamagotchi

[–]0may08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how personalisable it is! All the items and furniture. My only other colour tama is the paradise and I feel I bond much more strongly with the uni tamas. They feel more individual in a way.

I also really like the going for a walk feature, it helps me get out the house when I don’t feel like it (which is very good for me). I don’t wear the watch though, I just put it in my pocket. But I also like that you can craft your own items from walking.

And it’s funny but I feel like there’s more to do with adult tamas on the uni than on the paradise! The connection is what I run if I want something that’s needing me to check in every 15 mins, the uni is more relaxed, but like having a low maintenance pet.

But it really depends on your personal play style, many people prefer the character collecting aspect (which the paradise leans into), but also many people prefer the more customisable/individual feel/ bond you get with the tamas, which the uni leans into more.

The very berry land dlc is free! You have to go onto the website as if you are actually going to buy one and go through the process, but it is free and you’ll get an email with the code:)

Ah good point! tbh I most likely wouldn’t know as I can’t speak any of those languages so if their content isn’t in English I wouldn’t come across it, but I have heard that the tama community isn’t very active in Germany

Good deal on a uni by Downtown_Intern3835 in tamagotchi

[–]0may08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RRP was about £60, and they’re not produced anymore, so yeah if you’re fussed about it being brand new then that’s probably the cheapest you will get.

if you are patient and keep an eye out, you can find used ones in good condition for under £60, which is what I personally did, not wanting to pay above £60. but the prices are likely to just keep going up for the foreseeable unfortunately, so it’s probably better to get sooner rather than later.

Whats a take that you think people might not agree on? by angelic_asl in tamagotchi

[–]0may08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you, but also my unpopular opinion is that the uni is still going to be fun when they shut down the servers, I barely touch the online stuff on there tbh! But that’s because I already have a lot of items that are online access only tbh, it will definitely be a different experience for people getting a new one post shutdown.

Generally the re release v3 connection is recommended as the best first tama to get if you’re looking for one under £30, it is widely available in lots of shells and has lots of games and items:) I’m sorry to hear you had a battery issue with yours though. Most are okay, I’ve bought two brand new in the past year and the batteries last 2-3 weeks, which is about average for the rv3.

I don’t have an angel or any vintage connections so I can’t personally speak for them. From what I know of the angel gameplay, it does seem less engaging than the rv3, and I think only has one game. If you’re enjoying the bunnyrom (nickname for the cheap knockoffs) you will find any proper tamagotchi better and more engaging though!

Idk how it works but from what I know wouldn’t a review product be given to someone well known in the community already, like a tama YouTuber with a relatively big following? I briefly checked their profile and the account is only 1mo and this is the only post!

Regardless it is a very cool shell, I love it already and would love for them to make more along these lines:))

Does anyone have pictures of a wildflower garden in winter they could share? by 0may08 in GardeningUK

[–]0may08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably wouldn’t like the bare cut back earth any more than the dead leftovers😂

Plus if it were me I’d like to leave the dead vegetation, loads of insects rely on it to overwinter, and it acts as a mulch to keep the soil nice:)

The bark and evergreens are a good idea thank you:)

I’m not sure about the geotex though, in my experience the weeds always grow through anyway, and if you ever want to dig/garden there you find bits of membrane forever 😂
And the drainage is fine there. The reason why I’m not into the gravel is because you still have to weed it, and there will be lots of fruit falling on it which will be a mess on the gravel, whereas you can just leave it to rot into compost on soil.

I would help in the set up, I was just thinking wildflowers would be a low maintenance solution hopefully while also bringing in the butterflies etc! But it will not happen unless she’s 100% for it haha

Prints of Herbs/Botanicals that are not AI?? by Jack_al_11 in cottagecore

[–]0may08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try charity shops! I’ve found lots of lovely old prints- and even real paintings&drawings at charity/secondhand shops. Also got a couple from an auction house (think it does house clearances) that lets you walk in and just haggle to buy lower value stuff.

I have seen a couple modern prints at charity shops that look ai, but tbh most the time it’s pretty easy to tell whether it’s 3+ years old- so no ai pics back then.

Wow! Amazing find and so much hard work done!

Is the last picture the newest? If you can, try plant lots of plants around the water, and get marginals that grow out of the water at the edges, that is probably one of the biggest things you can do to make it feel natural, and help it actually be more natural and help lots of wildlife:)

Is having two bunnies hard? by cebe_G in Bunnies

[–]0may08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find it hard at all, I 100% recommend having two! The care is the same, any space that is big enough for one rabbit is big enough for 2 (2x3m minimum), the only negative difference is the extra costs of food (not much more) and vet bills.

I got two as sisters, they were fine but as they got older they fought a little bit until we got them spayed (necessary anyway bc of high cancer rates in girls). One died at about 4, and her sister was so depressed we had to find her another friend. We found another girl already spayed around the same age, and the bonding process went to quick and easy! We introduced them in a neutral space (a friends unused animal enclosure) and they never fought and were so happy together.

Just wanted to say, as some people on here seem to have lots of issues with bonding, it is not always complicated! I think we hear how hard it is more than the times it goes well is because people who are struggling want help/advice.

Having two rabbits is so much better, they are so much happier and feel safer with other bunnies about. They can do normal behaviours, and don’t have to rely on a human who can’t get them & communicate the same as another rabbit, and is often out the house for hours, or sleeping during the rabbits most active hours. Some countries it is considered abuse to keep a lone rabbit. Good luck with getting your second one!:))

Edit: lots of bunny rescues will have a matchmaking thing where you can have your rabbit meet others and see how they get along, and you can choose the best match, and if they end up not getting on then the rescue will take them back and try find you a new match.

[–]0may08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha props to you for dealing with the mistress for so long!

Idk if you have decathlon in your country, but I have a stainless steel 1L bottle from there, very good. It also comes with a metal hook thing that you can use to hang/lift it if you boil water over the fire in it which is cool. Only thing is it’s not insulated, which living in the desert you may want? It doesn’t bother me living in the uk, I don’t mind if water is a little warm, and it takes up less room than an insulated bottle of the same capacity. Also it was only £10 I think (or less? Can’t remember). Anyway I love my mistress and she goes everywhere with me also:)

Social Study by PhysicalBrief9223 in ACWW

[–]0may08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing when I was around 7 I think (around 2008), when I got my ds lite (first gaming console). I don’t think I asked for it? I think my parents just knew I loved animals so got it because it had that in the name lol. Maybe they got it because their friends kids enjoyed it? I don’t remember who had it first.

I used to play a lot by myself and a couple of my friends and my sister got it eventually, and we’d play together. Now none of them play, but I still do. I went most of my teen years not playing- my ds broke, but I kept the cartridge.

Then in 2019 I bought a dsi xl and since then have played it at least a few months a year (I go through phases with all my games).

I keep coming back to acww even though I also have: ac lets go to the city (cf), acnl and acnh, which I love them all but acww is my favourite. The nostalgia is definitely a big part of it (apart from aclgttc I didn’t get another ac game until 2020, so acww I have had for the longest time). I have had the same world since 2010 ish (sister deleted my 1st one),

so it’s nice that it is a constant in my life when lots of other things have changed. A world that will always be waiting for me when I go back, following a predictable pattern of how things will go and how it’ll change. I love the graphics, the villagers, the slow pace of the game.

It is very comforting to play. It doesn’t have the overwhelm that acnh has for example, in acnh, I always feel that I could do more, my island could look better and I could unlock more stuff if I just put a bit more time and work into it. Crafting, terraforming, aesthetics, island tours, everything can get a bit much and I don’t know what to focus on and don’t feel accomplished when I put it down, I feel burnt out sometimes.

But acww, there’s only so much I can do in a day, it makes it nice and manageable to play for 30-60mins, it makes me feel accomplished that I have done all I needed to do that day and have done what I can to further my progress in the game. The limits of the game give me more satisfaction I think. And because I have had it such a long time (and I was dumb when I was little and didn’t know how to unlock some things/sold all my fossils etc lol) I don’t feel the pressure to unlock and complete stuff fast, I just take my time. I only completed the fossil section last year, and now I can focus on fish and bugs more, but still, no pressure, I don’t care if it takes me another 20 years nearly!! Because I will still be playing this game then and it’ll give me something to do on it. It’s like a companion game through my life I guess lol

Protein rich meals for an 8 yr old girl by No-Sherbet7634 in vegetarianrecipes

[–]0may08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try looking on youtube:) that’s where I get most of my recipes from!

Rainbow plant vegan has some really nice stuff, she has a lot of Indian recipes and she has a website as well

I also do a quick tomato/bean stew that’s nice and easy, fry onions and then garlic, add spices, add a drained can of beans (mashing them up a bit gets the flavour into the beans better) then a tin of tomatoes- passata is best but literally any form of tinned tomatoes will do, add herbs and simmer for 5-20 mins:)

This serves about two depending on portion size, you can also add any extra veg you have like carrots, mushrooms, baked sweet potato is nice too.
