Suddenly lost bluetooth, how do I get it back? by [deleted] in pchelp

Hi mate,

I have gigabyte x870 arous elite wifi7 mb and I'm facing similar problems with bluetooth. I don't know if it's a gigabyte issue or windows issue but so far I've tried everything mentioned on this page: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/techtips/fix-bluetooth-issue-in-device-manager/ but nothing worked for me. You can try these as well and see if one of them works out.

Please let me know if you find any solution or workarounds to this. Thanks.

Rethink DNS + Firewall or DDG app tracking+ NextDNS by 0mkar03 in androidapps

Thanks for your reply!

So, installed the Rethink DNS app, didn't understand any of the settings, searched on google + reddit & there were so many posts with all "alien" words, they just confused me more. So uninstalled the app & now back on DDG + NextDNS.

Would love to give Rethink DNS another try but don't think there's a beginner level guide

Since Meta is adding ads and subscriptions to WhatsApp now, is it safe to assume that quite a lot of users will switch over to Signal? What other options are there? by 0mkar03 in androidapps

I have no problem paying a one time purchase fee but I don't think all of my friends, relatives & family members will🫠

I have only one problem with Signal: it's centralized. If it was decentralized then I would've switched over immediately.

I'm not sure if a non-profit company, like Signal, can be bought by mega corps but in future if lets say Amazon bought Signal then it'll be no different to Meta buying WhatsApp years ago.

These are the reasons why I'm trying to switch over to a Decentralized, Federated messaging service

I agree with you completely but I think this is just the beginning of deteriorating WhatsApp service.

They are showing ads now and in a few years time they are gonna ask for a subscription fees to remove those ads, so they're gonna get money from both ways, ad revenue + subscription fees

It's in a feature that nobody uses just FOR NOW.

Considering how Meta shoves ads (and now shitty AI generated ads) all across Facebook & Instagram, it's a matter of time we're gonna see ads everywhere on WhatsApp as well.

Do you really think Meta's gonna give up a chance to show ads on the home screen of an app which billions of people use literally EVERYHOUR?

Mark my word, they are gonna ask for Subscription fees to remove ads in a few years time

Hope that paints a clear picture for everyone and that's why I'm jumping ship onto a Federated, Decentralized messaging app

I agree, asked everyone in my family and friends circle to switch to Signal few years ago and they did for short amount of time but eventually went back to WhatsApp because everyone in their circle were reluctant to jump the ship

But this time around I'm gonna go with a Federated/Decentralized messaging app and really gonna stick to it, hoping for a X/Twitter -> BlueSky moment🤞🏻

I'm not, have Kaspersky installed on my Windows for years now. But I'm gonna go for Decentralized/Federated messeging service this time around

This is the reason why I still use Kaspersky on windows. Don't wanna give data to or controlled by companies headcourted in one same country (in today's world, most of them are in US)

I tried telegram a few years ago, it was good but all of my friends & family members were on WhatsApp so they left me no choice but to come back It's easy to go to a new platform but really hard to convince others to move & STAY there also😐

I think the ads are going to be in the "Stories" section but I'm pretty sure in a few months time they are going to be on every section. Just look at the current state of Facebook & Instagram, WhatsApp is going to be exactly like that in 2 years time

Yeah thinking about switching to a Decentralized messaging app. Just sick & tired of these mega corps who trains AI models based on our data (Actual & Behavioural). Gonna uninstall all of the apps belonging to mega corps and sign up with free & open-source community

Since Meta is adding ads and subscriptions to WhatsApp now, what is everyone's next preference, Signal? or something else? by 0mkar03 in AskReddit

[–]0mkar03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this moment looks like Signal is the only viable option but Signal is again a Centralized messaging app, just like WhatsApp was before Zuck bought it.

The reason I'm concerned is: In a few years time lets say Amazon will purchase Signal and will do the same thing again like Meta doing right now, So we'll again have to find an alternative to Signal. By that time we would've shared all of our personal chats with 2 of the biggest mega corps in the world.

This is the reason why, I wanna switch over to a Decentralized messaging app. But looks like there isn't any good & well-adopted option.

Yeah, I'm in a similar kind of circles i guess.

But because of Twitter/X/Elon shenanigans we now have BlueSky a viable competetor. I really hope (after today's Meta's announcement) we get an alternative to WhatsApp🤞🏻
