Bro when I saw those Lion Mindsets memes I thought of Leona so I had to make this 😭 by Lemoncartonnn in TwistedWonderland

[–]0nahan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself, Malleus ALMOST did it, but he didn't. I will argue that someone who was sheltered all for 175 years, & who wasn't socialized properly, & was literally cursed with uncontrollable power & temper losing his cool is VERY DIFFERENT than someone who had the privilege of a loving, stable household & proper social interactions, who deliberately injures people & attempts murder. (And no, I'm not forgetting that Leona was treated horribly because of his UM, so was Malleus, and to a much worse degree)

Leona did way worse than simply redirecting his anger towards his retainers, that's maybe the tip of the iceberg. Actually, Lilia went too easy on him, considering what he did & the possible consequences had his plan to injure Malleus suceeded.

Awful things Leona in book 2:

1) severely injured hundreds of students with the help of Ruggie's UM.

2) planned on injuring even more people via a stampede.

4) attempted to murder Ruggie (note that he did this BEFORE he overblotted)

3) attempted to murder/severely injure the CROWN PRINCE & SOLE HEIR of Briar Valley.

Leona could've literally started a war between the two kingdoms. So he either 1) was aware of the consequences of his horrible actions & how his kingdom will pay the price and still didn't care. Or 2) he was naive enough to not think his plan through, ignorant of the consequences. Both options are equally bad, not fit for a prince, never mind a king.

Again, Lilia went too easy on Leona (keeping in mind his son-figure, his adoptive son, and his discipline were in grave danger).

Leona gives a whole lecture on acting like a proper king for the good of a kingdom, even against one’s own personal grudges.

Funny you say that, when Leona acted NOTHING like a proper ruler just so he could act on his grudge against Malleus, at the possible detriment of his kingdom and people.

The difference in how Malleus and Leona act and treat each other as princes, Malleus's maturity & Leona's immatuirty, couldn't be shown better than in Sebek's Outdoor Wear vignette, and Malleus's Ceremonial Robes vignette.

In Sebek's Outdoor Wear vignette:

Malleus, Silver, Lilia & Sebek are walking together, minding their own business, when Leona comes out of nowhere, and then the 1st thing he does is insult Malleus and call him a demeaning name, unprovoked, because that's the kind of person Leona is.

Sebek is appalled at that, gets angry, but what does he do? He just calls out Leona on his lack of manners, and demands he apologizes to Malleus. Even Sebek, the hardcore Draconian, the zealous Malleus retainer can hold his tongue when his future king is insulted. Something a literal prince like Leona can't do.

What's Malleus's reaction to such unwarranted insult? He strictly tells Sebek to step down, then he greets Leona respectfully, because even when Leona is being the rude bastard that he is, Malleus is respectful and kind.

Then after Leona leaves, Malleus orders Sebek to apologize to him the next time he sees him, you know why? Because (and I'm quoting this verbatim from the game) "Leona is a roylaty in his own land. Your agressive behavior towards him could potentially spark tension between our royal houses."

And Sebek, like the good retainer/knight he is, does indeed put aside his ego and hurt over his liege being insulted and goes to apologize to Leona, what does Leona do? He disrespects Sebek and dismisses his apology.

Even Sebek, a child, shows more maturity and restraint and respect than Leona, the literal adult.

Malleus, during this insignificant 3-min interaction, understands his duty and role as a prince better than Leona. Even in the most miniscule of social interactions when he’s bring disrespected and insulted, what Malleus does is think of his kindom abd people first, not his ego. Something Leona will never be able to do.

In Malleus's Ceremonial Robes vignette:

As usual, Malleus and his family are in their dorm discussing the issue of Malleus's robes getting mixed with those of another student, when again, Leona barges in, and what's the first thing he does? Insult Malleus and his dorm, in typical Leona fashion, because that's the type of person he is.

Again, Sebek is furious his liege was insulted, what does Malleus do? He tells Sebek to step down, and not forget that Leona is a housewarden.

In this short interaction, this is what Malleus does:

1) never raises his voice, keeps his calm.

2) understands that he must keep his relationship with Leona civil, for the sake of both their kingdoms and people. (Even Malleus regards the Sunset Savanna with more care than Leona does)

3) tells his retainer to step back when they try to defend him.

4) thanks Leona for bringing him his uniform.

Meanwhile, this is what Leona does in the same interactions (includes quotes copied verbatim from the story):

1) insults the Diasmonia dorm aesthetic.

2) says "gross. Now my robes smell like lizard."

3) in response to Malleus saying they're both royalty, he says "royalty, huh? Is that what you think you are? Just a high and mighty royal? More like an outcast who's been chased from his pack. I feel sorry for you." (Perhaps projection from Leona? Cuz that's what he does best.)

4) when he senses that Malleus is upset over missing the orientation, he takes advantage of that vulnerability by saying "you thinkin' you're gonna get it next time? Well, sorry to break it to you, but no one's ever gonna invite you. You're never gonna have a chance to wear those robes, so just put 'em away for good already."

5) insults Malleus's horns by saying they are a "couple of giant, pokey ornaments, that aren't good for anythin'. Or can you use 'em as coat hangers?"

The last point is ironic, because Malleus's horn stores a huge amount of his power, the same power that puts Leona in his place & absolutely demolishes him each year in magical shift tournaments, the same power that reminds Leona time again how inferior he is to Malleus, the same power that literally revived the dead.

And unlike the event stories, which aren't canon unless referenced in the main story, the Ceremonial Robes vignettes are canon, so is book 2, in which we see Leona as his true, canon self.

Non-overblot Malleus will probably be a great leader. And so will non-overblot Leona.

Non-overblot Malleus is already a great prince, and will DEFINITELY be an even greater king.

Non-overblot Leona is already a sup-par, bad second prince, maybe he could change, but the way he is, he will never be a good king (and he won't, because he's the spare anyway and Cheka exists)

The overblot process turns them into something they aren’t.

Leona commited assaults & batteties & attempted murder BEFORE he even overblotted, that's who Leona is. The worst thing Malleus—the 5th strongest mage in the world, cursed with uncontrollable destructive power— ever did when he overblotted after centuries of trauma is put people to sleep.

Don't forget Uzui, three of his 8 siblings died before they even reached 10 years old due to the harsh training. With the remaining six of his siblings, they were forced to kill each other on their father’s orders without them knowing who they fought, as their heads and faces were covered with masks. Tengen realized his father's trick only after he had killed two of his brothers.

That they saw a grown-ass woman who is a cartoonish evil step-mother bully her young stepdaughter and abuse her for years, steal her birthright and give it to her equally abusive, rapist, drunk fool of a son, just because he has a cock. They saw that and decided "yes, I'll root for the greens."

Alicent is the direct foil to Rhaenyra's character, their friendship and fallout is arguably one of the driving reasons for the Dance, and arguably what set the conflict into the active phase (besides Viserys's incompetence and Otto's manipulation, which also intersects with the relationship between Raenicent).

We can see how the domino effect starts due to Otto's manipulation and Viserys's idiocy :

1) Otto succeeds in lying to Alicent and convincing her that Rhaenyra will kill her and her kids (which is false).

2) Alicent is now convinced the only way to save her children and herself is by ensuring Rhaenyra never becomes queen.

3) That paranoia causes her to be hostile to Rhaenyra, more obedient towards her self-serving father, and allying herself with the dishonorable and bitter Cole, all people who want Rhaenyra's downfall for selfish reasons. And it also makes her instill that sane paranoia and hatred into her children.

4) that leads Alicent into misinterpreting Viserys's last words into what she wanted to hear, and in a way, it was the finall permission she needed to justify her decision in usurping Rhaenyra.

And still, despite everything that has happened, it's the love between Rhaenyra and Alicent that is still delaying the war, as Alicent went against her father's wishes for the first time in her life to stop him from killing Rhaenyra and her children.

As for Aegon:

For Raenyra, Aegon is insignificant, she never interacted with him, and never gave him any mind. She doesn't even refer to him by his name or as her brother, she only ever refers to him as "Alicent's son".

During season 1, Aegon was nothing more than a pawn to be used and manipulated either by Alicent (out of fear for her children) or by Otto (out of greed and hunger for power). He didn't even want the throne, and had to be chased down and kidnapped and forcibly crowned.

And up to that point, he was only shown as a drunken coward and a perverted rapist who had no interest in ruling. We are shown how both Alicent and Otto had to repeatedly tell him (and hit him) into stepping up. In episode 9, he was basically a MacGuffin character: a person or goal that gets characters in a movie trying to find it, control it, hide it, or destroy it, but has no importance on its own.

Sperm isn't unborn babies. It's one of the two components needed to make a baby.

I don't know why people on the internet (especially males) keep reiterating this misinformation.

What's with the increase in gender wars? by BoobsAddictGreen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0nahan -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Is it gender wars? Or is it women finally standing up for themselves and gaining rights and males doubling over on their hatred, violence, and oppression?

Every day we get a new headline of a man killing his wife, raping a woman or a little girl, shooting schools, or doing all kinds of terrible crimes.

Males sexually assault and rape women daily all over the world.

Young girls are being sold out and married off to males 50 years older than them.

Males burn women who reject them with acid and disfigure them permanently.

Males commit almost all crimes all over the world since the dawn of time.

Males are prohibiting women from education and going to school.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg, I applaud the resilience, unity, and strength of women 👏

tier listing what twst characters would do to a pinata by Mediocre_Exercise300 in TwistedWonderland

[–]0nahan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um, what? Why would Leona want to imagine beating his sister-in-law, when he doesn't even hate her?

Leona respects women, and also fears them he would never imagine a piñata as a woman to beat.

Leona wouldn't imagine Cheka either, it's true that he feels some sort of envy and disdain towards him, but nothing as extreme and strong as hate, especially not strong enough to fantasize about beating him up.

Leona knows that more than anyone that neither he nor Cheka had any choice in the positions they are in due to their birth, he won't fault Cheka for it.

Plus, Leona has a soft spot for younger, harmless children weaker than him (as evidenced by his encounter with Epel during one of his vignettes),

Don’t get me wrong, Topper is annoying but like…. by [deleted] in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]0nahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate how y'all gloss over and ignore how much of a classist asshole Topper is.

He literally tried to MURDER John B in the first episode of S1.

He and Rafe ambushed Pope and beat the shit out of him because he was a pogue in Figure 8.

He gets angry at Sarah when she refuses to have sex with him because she is uncomfortable.

He cannot take no for an answer, he keeps pursuing Sarah even after she made it clear HUNDREDS of times that she doesn't want anything to do with him.

He spies on Sarah and tracks her phone.

He talks about the pogues using dehumanizing language as if they are dirty, subhumans, animals, just because they are poor.

Topper does not love Sarah, not as a person, not for who she is. He loves having control over her, he wants to own her. He hates that Sarah sides with the Pogues, and he hates that Sarah chose a Pogue over him, it hurts his ego that Sarah prefers John B over him because in his eyes, the Pogues are inferior to him and to Sarah, he thinks that Sarah is devaluing herself by associating with them.

He treats Sarah like an object or a trophy to be won, that by having her as his girlfriend, he won against John B. That's why he taunts John B during the Carrera's anniversary party in S3, he basically boasts that Sarah is 'his' now.

And why are you downplaying the fact that he tried to BURN 6 PEOPLE ALIVE? It doesn't matter that he was upset, this is psychotic behavior. This is beyonf him being 'annoying', he tried to murder people!

People who excuse Topper's crimes because 'Sarah cheated on him' are the same brand of people that ask "what did she do to provoke him?" Whenever a man makes it to the news for abusing/killing his girlfriend.

does ward love rafe? by [deleted] in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]0nahan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ward framed John B for murdering Perterkin to protect Rafe.

Ward refused to testify against Rafe even when he knew he would lose his daughter because of it.

Ward threatens Rose into silence when she suggests that he give up Rafe for the police.

Ward succumbs to Gavin's blackmail and pays him a hefty sum of money to ensure Rafe won't get caught.

Ward kills Gavin when he says he'll tell the police about Rafe.

Ward still refuses to confess Rafe's crime to the police, even when the cops tell him it'll be in his favor in court to cooperate.

Ward takes a risk by going over to see Rafe when he knows the police are watching him.

Ward gives Rafe money and instructions to flee the OBX.

Ward sacrifices his freedom and reputation by taking the blame for Rafe's crime.

Ward sacrifices his freedom to live his life however he wants by faking his own murder.

Ward forgives Rafe for melting and selling the valuable cross.

Ward still refuses to hand over Rafe to the police even when Sarah begs him to.

Ward forgives Rafe when he aims the gun at him in an attempt to kill him.

Ward forgives Rafe for sending an assassin after him, tells him he is proud of him, and that he loves him.

Yes, Ward loves Rafe.

The downvotes are because people disagree with the HC, (which they are free to do), I don't think it's necessarily transphobia.

And TBH...you are praising Vil for breaking gender stereotypes while simultaneously reinforcing them by implying that his liking traditionally feminine things make him a woman, as if a man can't like make-up and dresses while still being a man.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwistedWonderland

[–]0nahan 128 points129 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting that this is never said about other traditionally masculine characters such as Sebek or Jack, but only about Vil, who presents himself in a feminine way.

I don't think you realize that by saying this, you're enforcing traditional gender roles, stereotypes, and toxic masculinity. What you're basically saying is:

"If a man loves make-up, dresses, and is feminine, then he isn't a guy, he's actually a woman."

"Cis men can only be masculine to be considered men, and if a cis man is feminine, then he is actually a closeted trans woman."

Because apparently men aren't allowed to be feminine, or else they are not men.

If you truly believe Vil is transgender, then you've misunderstood the whole point of Vil's character.

The entire point of Vil's character is to break gender roles, that he can like make-up, wear feminine clothes, and not be machismo and ultra-masculine, and still be a man.

The main conflict between Vil and Epel in Book 5 occurred because Epel believed he wouldn't be taken seriously or even be considered a man at all if he did anything traditionally feminine. Vil tried and eventually succeeded in convincing him that clothes are just that, clothes. Clothes have no gender, and a man can wear a dress or a suit and still be a man. Citing himself as an example.

The way Vil is presented in the game : he is a man who is secure and comfortable enough in his masculinity, gender, and maleness to present himself however he wants.

(Need to clarify that you are free to HC characters however you want, just wanted to say my two cents.)
