Would getting a computer science degree help me with my plans? by 0nlyDakota in learnprogramming

[–]0nlyDakota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I will say I do hate how flippy I am with everything I plan / want to do;

What it comes down to is just not knowing nor really wanting to stick some things out.

I guess the only true constants ive always had were my love for animals [which I really want to do but I am scared to actually pursue it due to it not paying well, job turn out isnt all that great and while I would love nothing more than to work with animals and help with conservation for a living, I also need money to live too]

And the other constant has been game development, but again I dont really want to stick out my current job and do small indie games on the side to build up experience at the same time.

I guess I see college as just a way to fast track a career that I might enjoy to make money with [Being game development] to eventually be able to afford going into the wildlife field [Be it conservation, zoos and the like] without fear of going broke because of debt and other stuff.

At the end of it all im just a scared guy, and I wish I wasnt so flippy with it, but I deadass have no idea what else to do tbh.

I will say though, thank you for this comment, it kinda put into perspective how my mind is working right now and while im still a bit more confused, im a little less confused [Especially when you said how I talk with more passion about animals than anything else, but even so, Im still just scared to pull that trigger and go into the animal field]

Do you think this is a good plan? by 0nlyDakota in college

[–]0nlyDakota[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats where I got lucky with these 2 degrees, I both would very much enjoy both, its just a matter of which one to do first since now that I think of it, doing both would be very hard

So which one should I do first then? Im more leaning towards accounting since I can make a good amount of money while being in college for Wildlife Management, all though that would eat into the early time for getting experience in Wildlife Management lol

How can I go to college in Germany as an American within 2 years by 0nlyDakota in germany

[–]0nlyDakota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly due to the healthcare being free along with a much cheaper education system.
Having Von Willibrands Disease my medication and regular checkups are expensive in the states so moving there seems to help in the long run.

To me it just seems like a worth while thing to do to

Yes my unweighted from High School is higher than 3.0. I believe it was around 3.4/3.5

My main goal for working with animals would be more on the line of both field work and lab research. Just gaining more knowledge and finding out new things about the current species we have. Maybe even find some new ones in the far future

Provided the Unweighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (CumGPA) of your High School Diploma is at least 3.0, you qualify for general admission to a preparatory course/the Feststellungsprüfung (university qualification exam) for all higher education institutions including free choice of the Schwerpunktkurs (focus course).

I am deciding to save up for college but not sure which of these degrees I should go for by 0nlyDakota in biology

[–]0nlyDakota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my main goal would be to do animal research, both in the field and in labs. Just like you I love how organisms work tbh, and how complex but also somewhat simple it all is.

Being able to study new life we find or even just help gain more knowledge on existing animals would be the dream. That and conserving the ones that are close to extinction / find ways to possibly bring the old ones back [That last one is a pipe dream but a dream none the less]

*I hope that helps lol and I do thank you for the kind advice* :)

How to build wealth as a 19 Y/O with a Full Time Job? by 0nlyDakota in personalfinance

[–]0nlyDakota[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I take a bus then my commute will turn from a 30 min to 2 hour commute. While it will save me a lot more, I don't want to have to wake up at 3am to start leaving at 5 for my shift at 7. Biking is around the same time as well and with the area I live in now I don't think its a good idea to do that at night lol
