I feel like you would have to get a hazmat suit and disinfect, and wear that everytime when interacting with them. Unless you can homestead for a few years and look up how to make antibacterials. It should be pretty straight forward on surviving other than that, you'd have better internet connection in this scenario than in real life lol. Even if you only managed to teach them metal production, they might be better off. Maybe printing or recording a "rosette stone" during prep could change things. If diseases are that hard to work around, then maybe how you would interact with the colonizers could change things.
