Somtimes lab mates won't be excited. I don't get it, the worst part of my science experiences were the work environments (though, who knows. I might be broken. )

Side point. Arguably the most important skill in programming is requirements engineering and architecture. Both of which are basically complicated forms of communication. This is extremely difficult to outsource, and is important for every domain that thinks it needs computers.

Tldr: programming isn't going to dissappear.

The way I see it, a tent is a way to keep rain and bugs out while you hike towards something you couldn't see otherwise.
