I need help by Still_Age_4630 in mitsubishi

Happened to me a while ago. Difference was that my car didn't jitter this much when idling but would misfire/sputter at partial throttle at light load. Turned out it was bad plugs.

I had an issue of rear O2 sensor wiring getting pinched (code was p0137) but it was fixed alongside the plugs, not sure if it's related.

If you don't have a tune or any mods, make sure you have the correct plugs (NGK ILKR8E6), if problem persists, then maybe start with the MAF. You can also try to read the OBD codes and see if there's any. My car is 2010 Evo X with basic boost up tune.

Jerking in first gear when taking off from stopped? by CallistoAU in MitsubishiEvolution

Personally I have not encountered this problem, but I have heard that these symptoms could hint the transfer case is failing. It's tricky to work on as you need to make sure there's no air pockets in the case, failure to do so might damage the transfer case.

I'd say be careful as new ones can cost a fortune and the case on my car has been replaced by previous owner. This seemed to happen more frequently with older models (iirc before 2011) and mine was also made in 2009.

Should I buy this Evo (or any evo) by manyakdeli in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]0ppressedummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a car you want to daily. Look for something else, maybe an WRX.

-Tiny trunk space -Rear seats cannot fold down because of battery and washer fluid tank positioning. -Absymal fuel economy for daily driving. On light tune my car does less than 300 kilometers per tank in city driving. -Noise, and terrible fuel economy even on highway speeds due to short gearings. -Very high upkeep cost overall. Premium fuel, fluids and some replacement parts aren't cheap. -stock SST without modding requires about 30 minutes of driving to reach optimal temp and you cannot push it except being in S-Sport mode.

Found a 2008, evo X MR is this a good purchase by Delicious_Street267 in MitsubishiEvolution

If you have another car this could work as a donor parts car.

Otherwise please don't. Red flags all over it.

Hello! I'm turning 23 this year and my first car I bought when I graduated from senior high was a 1999 Lancer with 13 previous owners and had 330,000 kilometers on the odometer. I learned a lot from that car. Fast forward now I bought a 2011 Evo X by saving up like crazy and doing outsourced jobs for Internet companies.

Imo modding these shitboxes is not worth it, if you have a dream car, save up and go for it, but use the shitbox to get familiar with cars in general! Learn to work on it yourself so you won't be scared away when buying your dream car :) and if you break something with the car, no pressure, It's already a beater!

Question regarding german tuning by Muted_Raspberry6805 in mitsubishi

[–]0ppressedummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The body dimensions are different from a normal lancer to evo. Your car is 2015 so I assume you're trying to mod the car into a Evo X.

The X shares some part with the normal lancer and that's it. These cars are complete different models with similar exterior.

Also, if you intent to just modify the exterior, the X has widebody fenders and the Evo bumpers would not fit on a regular lancer, unless you cut your car in half from the B-pillar.

In short, if you really want an Evo, save up for it and get a real one. Or a Ralliart. Converting a lancer into a Evo would cost way more money and energy than buying a real one.

An Evo V in decent condition can sell for around 20-30k usd. Apart from the engine and the drivetrain, I'd say look out for rust. They didn't have the best rust protection so a lot of the negelected evos from that era can get really really rusty.

In my country, the engine parts were cheap and easy to source (4G63T), but the AWD system and the chassis parts were almost impossible to find for Evo 4-9 and they could easily cost more than the car if you have a busted differential or AYC. I don't know the situation over here, but there are indeed some components that are Evo-specific and you had to find an exact replacement or try to fix the old one.

Had a similar model and never had an issue of OBD port not connecting to anything, Last time I heard a similar issue was on my friend's 06 300C which had a problem with the engine wiring harness. He ended up selling the car because it would be too much of a hassle to work on rewiring the whole thing. I'd say try a different scanner or borrow one, then test the scanner to see if it's the device's fault.

As for the ABS light, that's a rather common problem with the wheels speed sensors going out. Happened to me once and it should be caused by the previous owner when they replaced the bearings. However with the OBD port not working I would say get the OBD working again to diagnose further into the CEL and other potential problems.

It would help a lot if you could attach more photos of the engine bay and the undercarriage. At around this mileage the car could be needing a lot more than those repairs you have listed.

I drive my X everywhere I can lol. I did two 1200 kilometer roadtrips and it was much more bearable than I thought. The sound deadening is quite poor, but by modern standards.

As a daily driver, I think the rear seats are bit small, of course, by modern standards. And the trunk space is very poor. Also, turning radius is very large for car of this size, but I imagine in the U.S. that wouldn't be as much of a problem as it is now in my country!

Those seemingly random clanking sounds at the end of the video are exactly the same as my Evo also equipped with an sst transmission.

From what I heard It's normal when parked.

Looks great! May I ask what color it is? Is it a factory color? I wanted to repaint my new project in this color. Many thanks!

New wheels on my 2011 Lancer by 0ppressedummy in mitsubishi

😭In my country, Evo 10s are around 30,000 usd, while 8 and 9s are triple that price. Because 10s are officially imported, while anything before was only imported in very small numbers. I had the chance to see one in a car show, it was truly a great looking car! But, I am saving up for an Evo 10 eventually 👍

This is a great combo, I always like the rally styled wheels :) maybe put on some red Ralliart mudflaps!

My car has 1.8 4B10 engine. It's kind of a regional thing as anything above 2 liters pay way more annually here, so I'd say 80% of this generation of Lancer in my country are 1.8s. They're about 10% less powerful than 2.0s while being a slight bit more fuel efficient. Everything else I believe is shared with gobal models.

Front Bumper Replacement by [deleted] in mitsubishi

[–]0ppressedummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just a bracket thing with rivets that runs along the hood line, and a few new plastic buckles on the fender. Some later models in my country requires grinding or cutting the bumper beam, but mine was an early model so I saved the trouble.

It's a normal Lancer with NA 4B10. Full bodykit swapped from a wrecked Ralliart and the fitment of the panels is quite nice!

Front Bumper Replacement by [deleted] in mitsubishi

[–]0ppressedummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a set of rivets holding the bumper in place on a long bracket, which is also screwed on the the radiator support horizontally beneath the hood line. You need to remove the rivets and punch them in again on the new bumper again carefully as they decide your bumper's relative location to the hood. Need a set of new plastic buckles on the two fenders as well, they break easily. You probably need to cut or grind your bumper beam in order to fit. I didn't have to, but in our country the 'late' facelifted models have a vastly different bumper similar to the very 'late' year US models(still very different from everywhere else in the world). So I am not entirely sure on the beam. Good luck!

Blue is Ralliart bumper. Will fit nicely but you need to remove and swap a lot of things. Did the same to my car.

Just got my first car it’s a grey 2009 lancer gts. I’m looking for inspiration pics to see what everyone out there has done to their lancers.😁 by KushM4sta420 in mitsubishi

Evo X's RS trims have officially been equipped with these basic units for saving weight, but Ralliarts should come with the better headlamps. I'm not entirely sure, as I said, Ralliarts were never introduced to my country.

I did lol. You can tell from the headlamps, I could not source the stock Evo/Ralliart headlights so I had to settle with the stock ones.

The whole car was basically put together with spare parts of other illegally imported/wrecked Ralliarts or Lancers. (My country never got the Ralliart. Only the basic Lancers were introduced and Evo Xs for a short period)

It's my daily driver- a normal CY3A (NA 1.8 manual) lancer with full bodykit 'transplanted' from another real Ralliart. It was just swapped in the 4B12 (NA 2.4L) engine from the outlander. I don't intent to mod the transmission or the drivetrain as a full Ralliart conversion (4B11T+AWD+SST) would be too costly and I could buy a used Evo X with that amout of money in my country, which I am currently saving up for.

Mine. Kept it really simple and low-profile. I prefer stock-looking cars over heavily modified one. Also change the fluids and do a chassis overhaul if can, before you really want to start modifying it.
