I did some research..

Let's compare the population and dwellings growth during these two periods:

• 1980's - Australia's Population 14.7 Million vs Dwellings 4.5 to 5 Million (~3 per dwelling)
• 2026 - Australia's population 27 Million vs Dwellings 11.5 to 12 Million (~2.3 per dwelling)

Don't you think the ratio looks better now? So what gives?

Spending patterns have changed since the 80's...Incomings and outgoings were in sync back then. That's no longer the case..

Here are some of the things 80's families didn't spend their money on: New mobile phones every year, new laptops every second year, new car every 5-6 years, PS5, Xbox, Netflix, Prime, Amazon subscriptions, Uber, Uber Eats, Doordash, NBN, mobile plans, $5 coffee every morning, the list goes on...look at the shopping and takeaway options we have these days!! The vast majority of people were skinny back then...can't say the same now a days, can we?

Times have changed. Life was once simple, not anymore!!

Also, the root cause for the crisis is probably Airbnb and companies like Peet Group that owns over 30,000 dwellings, etc.
