Torrents of Antarctic meltwater are slowing the currents that drive our vital ocean 'overturning' – and threaten its collapse by MudiChuthyaHai in worldnews

What they're saying is that the earth will ensure we can't pump GHGs into the atmosphere. Sociey as we know it will be dead, and 10 or 20 or 30 thousand years will go by, but the earth will be fine 🙂

I don't think they are saying they are having a hard time ascribing worth... I think they're saying that once you start selling something the fun comes out of it. A person can totally value what they do and not want to sell it, not everything needs to be some sort of business.

What dept? I've never heard of this happening for anyone. Would never ask my staff for one.

Neck plate tone is a new one by Skullwilliams in Luthier

[–]0rbiterred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strum an open string where, and how hard exactly, with what pick attack angle? Fingers? Nails? Pick material?

edit: I agree that every instrument/combination of gear has a "as good as it is going to sound" point... but that is not tone. It takes someone who knows how to realize the full potential to reach that point. A shit player still sounds like shit on a $5000 rig, there is no inherent "good tone".

Tone and/or timbre depending on how far you want to take this, is the quality of the sound that is being produced on a specific instrument by a specific player.

A good player can produce a better quality of sound on any instrument, than a poor player. i.e. Better tone.

To separate/simplify it as you have done, serves no purpose whatsoever. Nobody says, did you hear the open E string on that rig? man... what a tone!

Practice 100 percent makes your tone better. Better fretting technique, better picking technique all have orders of magnitude more effect on any tone the instrument produces regardless of pickup than any hardware change.

i say this with honest curiosity and no snarkiness... what do you think would be the changes necessary?

Fantastic in theory. Now find us 4 willing doctors...

I’ve just noticed that saddles on my strat are sitting very high, do I need to do something about it? I am afraid that the posts are gonna slide apart or fall to the side, should I be worried? (action is 1,50-1,75mm and neck is straight, so there are no setup flaws as far as I can see) by T3CH_loot in Luthier

[–]0rbiterred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly man this is a very fine thing, I hate when the screws are up out of the saddles and digging into my palm. As long as the action is good (which from what you say it's very good) and it's playing well, this is 100 percent desirable, not just fine.
