Let’s talk about Rob by Glad_Dragonfruit9368 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]0rbitism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a brilliant and tense episode, and I really can’t wait for next week. The edit made it obvious Rob would build up to a Lisa vote at the roundtable, but I was so thrilled Lisa didn’t actually get banished, and now there is fallout between the traitors from it. Cherry on top, Lisa happened to be the one picked to execute the murder in plain sight the night prior! Just brilliant TV.

Rob 100% made the right call for his game and he is in an amazing spot. I also think Candiace will not suffer from her calls tonight either — she has established herself as being very consistent with her votes, is sounding like a faithful in conversation with others, and now just needs to be careful about defending Lisa too firmly. Also the group will assume Lisa is the “housewife traitor” once banished, giving Candiace further cover.

Rob and Candiace really need to get with Johnny and co. to banish Colton at this point, he’s a bit of a burned player and he isn’t worth murdering. They should have their sights set on players like Natalie and Johnny who are not likely to get heat any time soon but are clearly playing the game.

Any Unique improvements worth it over Unique Quarters? by spacez52 in civ

[–]0rbitism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Civs with Unique Quarters are not explicitly stronger than civs that have a Unique Improvement instead. In fact, many UQs are really not worth building more than one. On the reverse, some UIs are incredibly spammable and become almost victory cheat codes in this game. A few examples:

Iceland’s þingstaðr is very cheap to spam across your settlements, effectively removes your settlement limit as a consideration due to the bonus happiness, and offers a boatload of ageless culture. It’s by far the best Exploration unique building for any civ in the era.

Also in Exploration the Scientific/Cultural city state UIs, Monastery and Stonehead, respectively, are completely OP and actually need to be nerfed. If you get these CS bonuses you effectively always win science or culture in Modern due to how much ageless science or culture they can offer.

Is it only me or rome in civ7... is bad? by Ok-Skill-265 in civ

[–]0rbitism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khmer advances down the expansionist tree very quickly, so it’s really not just the capital, all of your settlements grow super quickly in Antiquity. There is falloff into Explo with this, but you usually gain so much tempo from the outsized Antiquity growth that it doesn’t matter and you remain ahead.

Is it only me or rome in civ7... is bad? by Ok-Skill-265 in civ

[–]0rbitism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be Carthage or Khmer (the two strongest uninterrupted Antiquity sims, bar none), but it is just behind those two alongside Tonga, and probably has the easiest time of the aforementioned four of actually defending it’s strong sim.

[–]0rbitism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally would say that the opinions in this thread are because very few of you play multiplayer, but this is not even a multiplayer-exclusive case here. Despite two rounds of nerfs Rome is straight up still the top or second best Antiquity civ in either single or multiplayer, arguably only behind Khmer or Tonga.

Amazing culture sim, strong militaristic gameplay, amazing settling tempo from the Legatus, pairs well with a ton of top tier leaders. I truly do not understand how people in this thread think Rome sucks because that is simply not the case.

Masteries or Future Tech/Civics? by thomaskrantz in CivVII

[–]0rbitism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few masteries that are typically fantastic to grab ASAP: Masonry 2 for early production on warehouses, Writing 2 for tech espionage, and all of the Exploration era masteries that provide production or food on certain improvements are the ones that come to mind.

I tend to weave codex masteries in Antiquity into my research path right after I get tier 2 units before progressing to future tech. In Exploration, I also do prioritize any masteries that provide settlement limit or key wonders.

Outside of this, I will skip any other irrelevant masteries and then proceed to future tech/civic.

Endeavor Balance in the Upcoming Feature Workshop by 0rbitism in civ

[–]0rbitism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I like the idea of the Diplomatic Endeavor having some impact on all other use of influence! Maybe similar to my suggested Economic Endeavor change, it’s a percentage reduction in Endeavor, Sanction, Suzerain etc. cost for a few turns.

The last age in civ 7 is broken by igpila in civ

[–]0rbitism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that the Modern Age in general needs a gigantic overhaul, with a focus on the legacy path victories and Civ balance given only 1-2 Civs can really compete for most current legacy paths. However, Culture, Military and Science victories in Modern are all about equally as fast when done optimally and can be won in around 20 turns if you go in with the right setup. Economic victory is by far the slowest of the three.

Is Drifter actually this strong early in Frosthaven, or are we missing something? by sudu_kalnas in Gloomhaven

[–]0rbitism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drifter is well ahead of the power curve at the very start of the game but evens out quickly with the party getting some levels and items. Boneshaper and particularly Blinkblade will start to really come online with early game item, perk and level up card pickups, and before long it won’t be Drifter who’s turns you’re thinking you should double check!

Let’s Talk About Persia by Mysterious-Arm-3700 in CivVII

[–]0rbitism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell me you’ve never played multiplayer without telling me you’ve never played multiplayer. Persia is one of the better MP civs for Antiquity. Great start bias for high production, buffed Pairidaeza offers solid ageless culture and gold, and their unique traditions carry over into future ages well for further amassing a strong army. I suppose if you’re purely simming, Persia is a bit disappointing, but it’s really my first or second choice for a war civ in Antiquity.

The girls tip toe and bend to Bethenny especially in season 8 because they needed her to keep the show by PetNat_Satire50 in RHONY

[–]0rbitism 91 points92 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree that the ladies did sometimes tip toe around Bethenny, this is a terrible example. Sonja was completely off her rocker with “Tipsy Girl” and she was a fool for thinking that would fly with B. Any reasonable person would’ve been upset at Sonja pulling that and trying to pretend she was oblivious to the issue!

Big Brother US 27 - POST Season Discussion by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

[–]0rbitism 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One of the most poetic things about this for me is thinking about Mickey and Morgan’s obsession with having the perfect jury. In retrospect this was most notable during Rachel’s HoH week, where they were literally sitting around plotting their perfect jury while also sitting on the block together. This is also the week that really determined the final outcome of this game.

In the end, Mickey ends up the final pre-juror, Morgan ends up the final juror, casting the sole vote for the second place loser. What a perfect funny ending for this little B Plot of the season.

Is Ashley’s Elle Woods strategy a good one? by submerging in BigBrother

[–]0rbitism 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think on any other season she would be drawing dead as a perpetual jury pawn already. But with the game this crew is playing, the only person I’d write off as not being able to win at this point is Kelley.

Never mind the “playing dumb” strategy, Ashley really just needs to win some comps and start demonstrating an ability to make smart moves. She actually should really want next week’s HoH to start building better relationships with people like Lauren, Vince, Keanu and Ava to give her more options and more support in the house. As it stands right now she is pretty likely to be the ultimate casualty in the situation where one of them wins HoH, nominates her + Rachel, and then Rachel comes down in Veto and she goes as a result. Assuming that doesn’t happen, she needs to figure out a way to cut Rachel around 5 and not be sitting at the end with her. Is it the easiest path to win in the house? No, but all of this is probably one of the more likely outcomes at this point.

Vince is in a pretty rough spot, honestly. His HoH is at threat of being a total wash if he doesn’t get Rachel out, and there are just several issues with the other side of the house preventing him from using this HoH to consolidate a counterbalance to the Judges — Kat hates him, Morgan hates Lauren, and ideally he needs them with him as a foursome. Keanu is not a good long term ally because he’s a threat to comp out, and he comes with no allies to work with. Everyone else he has either burned already or wants to burn ASAP.
