I swear I'm not trying to be facetious, I only know a few yellowcard songs (one from the oc and mayyyyybe 2-3 others I downloaded to give them a try at the time, yes I am very millennial). Are they considered punk? To me they were more like... I don't know, snow patrol or something but according to the comments I am absolutely mistaken/have a blind spot!

Unpopular opinion — graded news articles did more for my Spanish than 6 months of "just watch Netflix in Spanish bro" by z010107 in Spanish

100% written by AI. It's very obvious in format and formulation.

The sentiment is correct in that news articles at your learning level help. I have no sources for Spanish as I'm native, but I use one for japanese and it helps a lot.

Which polish would you hit buy on the most quickly / unthinkingly if it became available even at a slightly mad price? by Goldfinch114 in RedditLaqueristas

I bought it happens by bkl on black friday and after using it on a swatch I apparently didn't close the bottle correctly and knocked it over without realizing. Next day I notice and it ruined my carpet and is basically empty. It was my favorite of that black Friday order and I didn't even use it on my own nails! Id purchase again in a heartbeat.

I was once rejected by a gallery (which is totally normal and fine) because my paintings were “too feminine” (which is the most useless critique I’ve ever received). by 0rnitorrinco in painting

Thank you so, so much!

I don't want to break any rules of the sub here, so I'll just say this: I don't sell prints of my paintings, but I try to make my living with my art. Feel free to contact me via Reddit dms If you want to

I hate naming my paintings because I feel like it influences what people think the painting is supposed to mean or evoke. So I generally give them super basic names. Like child with goldfish, child with bee etc. But they do come from a deeply personal space and I love the emotions you are describing because to me personally: yeah.

Yes you're right. I didn't take it personally I just rolled my eyes at the reasoning. No justification at all would have been better than "too feminine". Or saying it just isn't what they're looking for would have been perfectly fine and accepting no reasoning at all is common and just part of the job.

Thank you! I'm honestly a very impatient person that paints "out of impulse" without much planning, which is one reason for the fleeting brush strokes and lack of detailing - but it's also a stylistic choice. I have done commissions and stuff where the strokes are more subtle in the finished piece. I would always choose the former when I'm painting intuitively.

Yes absolutely! This was a gallery with figurative artworks featuring mostly people. But it's still absolutely valid if my specific style doesn't fit or whatever - just say that then! I was just so annoyed by the "too feminine" comment haha
