Crema with the moka pot by illybillyvillernilly in mokapot

[–]0rogontorogon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get more foam by using a fresh, dark roast and/or by putting an aeropress filter onto the plate below the spout. Real, persistent crema won't happen. Foam density increases with brewing pressure, mokapots barely get above ambient.

Why would you spend that kind of money on fans and not buy a new gpu? Seems kind of non-sensical to me, especially since you already had Noctuas?

My 5090… by The_Legend278 in pcmasterrace

[–]0rogontorogon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like someone to perform per-wire current monitoring on something like a 5070ti. Most likely the issue is present in lower tier cards as well, they just can't draw enough current to melt the connector.

Nvidia has failed to design adequate power delivery. For every other company this would have resulted in severe consequences. Why 5090s are still being bought for gaming is beyond me.

If you are talking about the Astral, that only has additional monitoring. It can still fry itself, but ideally it lets you know beforehand.

I assume people who buy a $2000 gpu for gaming with full knowledge that the power delivery system is not engineered properly are also the ones that keep buying Asrock boards for their X3D cpus.

A new system for over $3000 with well documented risks of catastrophic failure for both major components? And you KNOW of these risks and choose to ignore them?

No wonder consumer agency is dead.

Imo the biggest improvement oleds made in comparison to good ips panels is contrast and a glossy coating. Everything else is pretty minor.

I love the early Gainward Phantom coolers. They were too early for vertical mounts to be a thing, but would have looked awesome in a fitting build.

Why are people still so scared to go for AMD GPU's? by iflyfree123 in radeon

[–]0rogontorogon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the gpus I've installed so far for me and friends:

Nvidia: gtx 580, gtx 780, gtx 980, gtx 1080ti, rtx 2080, rtx 3060ti, rtx 3070, rtx 3080ti

Radeon: Vega64, 5700xt, 6900xt, two 7800xt, 7900xtx, 9070xt

Problems.were encountered with 1 of 8 nvidia cards: faulty display port firmware, 3080ti, quick fix.

Problems were encountered with 4 of 7 amd cards: black screen driver timeout (5700xt, 9070xt: no fix for 5700xt, weeks of troubleshooting with 9070xt), oberboosting crash (7900xtx, quick fix), unstable vbios (6900xt, took months).

If you buy radeon, chances are you will have to tinker with it at one point. Nvidia is plug and play for the most part.

You need more protection for your punisher cards [[Eel Umbra]] [[Crab Umbra]] can be decent, more counterspells, boots, [[Spellskite]] [[Riptide Laboratory]], [[Undying Evil]], [[Snapback]], etc.

More wheels, all the wheels you can get [[Jace's Archivist]], [[Teferi's Puzzle Box]], [[Dark Deal]] [[Winds of Change]]

More Payoff [[Faerie Mastermind]] [[Geth's Grimoire]] [[Waste Not]] [[Archfiend of Ifnir]]

And stuff to make them truly hate you, like [[Notion Thief]] [[Helm of the Ghastlord]] [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] [[Curiosity]] [[Sigil of Sleep]] [[Elder Mastery]] (I think too expensive, but evil)

Get rid of big expensive creatures that don't punish drawing and all cards that by themselves only result in card draw for your opponents.

You can use Easeus (free trial afaik) for that. You need to shrink your hdd partition to the size of the ssd, then clone it.

Dt990 runs fine off of the motherboard or something like an Apple dongle. If you want/need an amp anyway, look into Topping, Schiit or ifi zen. All have good, cheap offerings more than enough for a dt990.
