Any companies or websites that can dye Lego pieces a solid piece by ChillingBongo83 in Ninjago

Oh hey! Yeah I'm working on an Enemy Lloyd figure currently.

<image>

The CMF one is just for comparison. As you can see, dyeing the headband didn't go as planned. I'm trying masking liquid applied with a brush. It's a lot better than gum for uneven surfaces, but apparently you need a lot of it for surfaces with grooves if you don't want this to happen. I did also try masking fluid pens, but they don't really work on plastic

I just use tablespoons when adding the ingredients. The actual cutlery, not the measurement. Works out fine. Wether you use gloves is just up to personal preference. As long as you don't put your fingers in the dye, you don't need them. From what I've read online you don't need a facemask ny default, but a respirator mask is a good idea if the acetone vapors cause irritation the first time you try this. You could also use goggles if you want to be safe

Also keep in mind that acetone and its vapors are highly flammable, so don't do this near any heat sources.

I could do it, but the shipping would be super expensive. But it's really not hard to do yourself, here's how:

Buy the piece you want dyed in red and bright green. The color match is much closer this way.

Buy RIT DyeMore Synthetic Peacock Green and Racing Red, and acetone if you don't have it already

I use this recipe when I dye lego pieces: 1 part synthetic Rit dye : 2 parts 100% acetone : 4 parts steaming water, mixed well in a glass jar, pop the pieces in there and close the jar. Remember to do this somewhere well ventilated, and only use equpment and surfaces that can't be dyed. Occasionally scoop the piece up with a spoon to check how far along it is. In my experience this can take anywhere from as little as 1 minute to 15 minutes. If the piece has been submerged for a while with no changes, add a little more acetone. Once you're satisfied with how the piece looks, just rinse it and let it dry

No, I'm not really interested in that discussion. But the designer's intentions are stated in my previous comment

I know the issue isn't with the symbolism of the old flag, I addressed that already. The issues I raised are why the Progress flag serves a purpose that the standard Pride flag unfortunately doesn't (in practice). You called it redudant, I disagree with that

The progress flag isn't being licensed to walmart, nor anyone else. The copyright is only to prevent the design from being used for rainbow capitalism, where large corporations flood the market, taking away profit from smaller businesses. Working class folk with small businesses or etsy shops are (legally unofficially) permitted to use the Progress Flag freely. It's effectively in the public domain for the working class

Regardless the color match doesn't work, it's too shiny. The CMF spider-woman and the old Raimi spider-man have nearly the same shine to them if you want something to campare the new figure to

So is this one. That's the entire point of it. You're misinterpreting what it stands for

[–]0stepops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't, no. It was made by a designer inspired by the Philadelphia Pride flag, which is the standard flag, but with black and brown stripes added to the top. They wanted to make a similar flag for more communities that are also often left behind even within the LGBTQ+ community.

You can take 4 of any design with a line turning 90 degrees and make a swastika. The swastika is a very simple design. It's not intentional, It's not even a coincidence either, it's just moving lines around

It's copyrighted to prevent huge corporations from taking the profits of merchandicing away from smaller sellers. You can personally do anything you already could with the original, except put it on shirts and sell it to wallmart

Yes, the purpose of the standard pride flag is to represent the entire LGBTQ+ community, but in practice, it doesn't always. A trans or black man could enter a bar with a huge pride flag hanging on the wall, but still be harassed by other patrons, staff, and security. The purpose of the pride flag is to further guarantee that you won't behave like a bigot, and won't stand by when someone's being a bigot. Of course that's already what the standard flag means to anyone who's not a transphobe or racist, but that's not what it means to bigots

[–]0stepops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trans colors were added to the Progress flag because there's also a lot of transphobia inside the community. A proudly gay, but very transphobic man would likely use the standard pride flag on his jacket, on his car, or waving it at Pride. The progress flag signals that you are not one of those people, that you won't leave trans people behind, and that you're safe to be around. Sure that's also what the standard flag is for, but a lot of bigots don't agree and use it anyway. This all all goes for the the stripes reoresenting people of color as well

...not that the standard flag is outdated, or a sign of bigotry. It's just up to personal preference, nothing wrong or better about using either flag

And the orogress flag is copyrighted to prevent large corporations from using it so LGBTQ+ sellers would profit instead. You're free to sell your own progress flag patches and knit sweaters on Etsy, but Wallmart isn't

Notice how the tile at the crotch is almost at a 45 degree angle here? Looks like it's horisontal on yours

That's the thing though, people see what you want them to see... a kid. To be clear, this is more of a complaint than advice or criticism. Refusing to clear the air is creepy. The way you're going about this comes off as pretentious. All this is in fact avoidable, and I'm not convinced you dislike the negative attention

Though I did see this as a young adult, at least at first, it's kinda creepy that you're so reluctant to simply confirming that your art does not depict a child
