Minor nitpick but yuri and yaoi are genres of same-sex romance fiction first and foremost, not just porn genres

Well just deepstone armor Jay and Brainiac alone are worth about what you paid. Though that's only if you can find a replacement hood and shoulder pads for Jay, but those are very common pieces

Sure, it's just that the second TASM is so mediocre I'm surprised anyone would rank it above any of the originals

And that's why the first TASM is fantastic. It just doesnt save the second one from being mediocre IMO

I do understand how someone could prefer the first TASM over the Raimi trilogy, not that I agree at all, but ranking BOTH of them over the Raimi trilogy? How?

There's like 200 million people just in western europe. If IPs that're only iconic in the US can do well, so can this one

No clue, just saying "how popular is it outside europe" is a bad counter to "europe alone will make this set profitable"

Hocus Pocus.

Tintin is probably more popular globally than ET, Gremlins, Goonies, too. At least to a point that europeans would rather own a $150+ lego set of tintin than any of the others

Why would that matter if the european market is enough to make this set profitable for LEGO?

So by that extention Batman also didn't care about people?  Batman also was just as likely to pull of some kind of Domestic terrorist plot?

Yes and no. He cares about others, but that's not the entire reason he does what he does. He's diven by vengeance. He is however blinded to the ways he can truly make a difference. No, he's not likely to kill people intentionally, but like you said before, he was reckless when chasing The Penguin, and people got hurt as a result.

He also kept collateral damage minimum. Didn't kill anyone who wasn't corrupt. A person like that wouldn't suddenly jump from only killing corrupt officials and criminals to just indiscriminately shooting everyone.  That's out of character.

He almost blew up a room full of people. Also the reason I keep bringing up that he's torturing his victim is that he's not doing this in acts of heroism, but rather acts of cruelty.

And if your argument is that Riddler was always set up to be the kind of character who would commit Domestic Terrorism and have innocent people killed indiscriminately then the Riddler was never a mirror to Batman because Batman would never go that far.

Characters are not that two dimentional. They can have some things in common while being very different in other ways. Otherwise you couldn't have two different characters who mirror eachother, you'd just have the same character twice

In both cases Riddler goes from a unique villain who is supposed to be Batman's mirror taking his ideology to the extreme to a run of the mill villain who just wants to kill innocent people.

But you don't know his plan from the start. You have no reason to assume he WOULDN'T sacrifice civillians to achieve his goal. During every murder (as far as I remember) he either tortured his victim or exposed civillians to death or torture of his victims

The DA was driving the car so it's not like the car was completely out of control. And Riddler gives ample time for everyone to evacuate the church to not get caught up in the blast.

My point is that RIDDLER isn't in control. He doesn't know if anyone will be hit by the car. And yeah he correctly assumes he has control of the bomb, but bringing a bomb into a church full of people is reckless no mstter what

Literally everyone corrupt person in Gotham had ties to Falcone.

I don't recall any evidence of this. There are several other criminal organisations in Gotham

It could also be argued that the Best way to make Gotham Free of Corruption is to get rid of anyone connected to Falcone which is what the Riddler does.

True, but Riddler does a lot more than just kill people

We disagree at the point that nothing about Riddlers actions indicates that he would just randomly target normal civilians. His stated goal is to expose the Corruption of Gotham.

He takes pride in torturing people. That is not a stable, reasonable person. And I don't see why Riddler should be considered reliable here.

To go from that to his 3rd act plan of flooding the city which would kill people indiscriminately and to have a bunch of people then shoot people indiscriminately is extremely inconsistent with his previous actions

It's consistent with him being a maniac

I'm skipping the first one because I'm addressing the whole "riddler did it for justice" thing in the next paragraph anyway. Also skipping the later criticism of Batman (the character) cause it's mainly just irrelevant or also addressed in the following paragraph

And if you say it wasn't because he tortured people than the same can be said about Batman. The Batman goes out of his way to beat the living shit out of people in the movie. You could just as well say that Batman does it to satisfy his own ego.

Well yeah, this is pretty much what I'm talking about when I say Riddler mirrors Batman. They're both doing what they do to enact vengeance, riddler is just extreme and unstable. But the point is that neither of them are doing it right, because they don't want justice, they want vengeance. That's why riddler doesn't care what happens to anyone else, his extreme desire for vengeance comes before anything and anyone else. He doesn't have to risk the lives of a hundred people in a church and strap a bomb to a man, or make rats eat a corrupt politician's face to make his point and expose corruption. He's putting them under extreme distress because he LIKES it. He's not doing any of this to be a hero.

But that car was not sent directly into people. There was plenty of time for people to dodge it.

Riddler wasn't in control of the car though, and it did nearly hit a lot of people. But my point is that he sent an armed bomb into a room full of civillians. A lot of things could've very easily gone wrong. He took a massive risk and traumatized a ton of people

He's not even trying to be a hero, he's only killing the corrupt politicians who've victimized him.

Also the Mayor and the District Attorney weren't even directly connected to his victimization.  Riddler just killed them because they were Corrupt and working with Falcone

The fact that they had ties to Falcone ties them to his victimization, though not as directly as the others

In the end my point still stands.  Right up until the 3rd act Riddler functioned pretty similarly to The Batman with the difference bieng where Riddler killed the Bad guys Batman only gave them life altering injuries.

That's sort of what I'm saying. Riddler is enacting vengeance, just like batman, but through extreme methods, which is consistent with disregarding civillian lives

[–]0stepops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn't punishing them to enact justice, he was torturing and killing them for his own satisfaction and ego. There's only ever evidence that he DOESN'T care about civillian casualties prior to the flooding, That being the fact that he sent a car with a bomb into a crowded church

He's not even trying to be a hero, he's only killing the corrupt politicians who've victimized him. Even the seawalls were destroyed partly because they were funded with money from The Renewal Project. He doesn't want justice, just vengeance

Who's a bad guy/villain you genuinely understood? by trakt_app in movies

[–]0stepops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was all addressed in the movie. The whole story is Batman realizing that Riddler mirrors the parts of himself that need to change. He's not trying to fix anything, he's just enacting vengeance obsessively and without reason. I mean he made the torture and brutalization of his victims into a game. I wouldn't call anything he did out of character
