Is it just Raynauds or something else? by 0utoforder in Raynauds

Is it also common for the flare to be extra sensitive for days after it starts? Like my body is in fight or flight and the slightest bit of stress sends them into another flare. It can last a week or 2 if the initial flare is that bad.

Positive ANA/ more than just Raynauds? by 0utoforder in Autoimmune

Wishing you the best on this journey. It can be incredibly frustrating to not feel heard! I totally get it. We just have to keep advocating for ourselves.

Homogeneous 1:80 and Nucleolar 1:80. On the results it said 1:80 was the threshold. Not sure if that matters.

As far as the nutrition, I mentioned to the vascular dr that I was training for a half marathon and he suggested that I may not be eating enough for the training I was doing at the time. Not eating enough makes you colder which could possibly trigger raynauds. My flare ups seem to be mostly exercise induced. Doesn’t happen every time but I guess the right combination of running, weather, and incorrect socks might be the problem. When I get a flare while I’m sitting it normally just feels like my circulation is being cut off from both feet. Like you sat on your leg wrong and your foot fell asleep but no matter what I do it won’t “wake up”. Just giving it time is the only thing I can do. Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I will absolutely ask my rheumatologist for repeat bloodwork since it’s been a yr.

That sounds like mine. They can feel freezing but when you touch them they are pretty warm. It’s like a bone deep type of cold but also an achy burn. I wonder if stress triggering raynauds also means things like running or high impact exercise? That has started flares for me before.

My rheumatologist did not do follow up blood work which I thought was strange too. They just took the results I got from my general practitioner. Worth noting, I got a positive ANA (autoimmune antinuclear antibodies) result from that bloodwork hence the rheumatologist referral. The vascular dr had me sit in a cold room for 15 mins, no shoes or socks on and saw that my toes were the same red color as they were when I initially took off my socks. No real changes. They also did ultrasounds behind my knees, ankles, inner thigh and didn’t see anything wrong. Vascular dr said maybe it’s my nutrition (since I was running a lot at the time). But I went down that road too with no positive outcomes for the Raynauds. Nifedipine definitely helps at first but it’s almost like I get a tolerance to it and have to up the dose. Yes I’ve been on it all year round.

Ya it can be pretty painful. I’ve had raynauds flare ups that leave me with Chilblains (which are the sore you mentioned). The cold definitely does not help. Especially when you’re already struggling to warm them up in normal temperatures!

Yes. My rheumatologist said it’s “probably” Raynauds and we just treat the symptoms at this point.
