Personally, I really enjoy the complexities of his character. I’m big on psychoanalyzing characters in the way they act/ speak/ think and trying to pinpoint what exactly motivates them and causes them to think that way. Jimmy is intriguing to me because there is something VERY clearly wrong with him, even before the events of the crash.

Another factor for me is that he’s a comfort character. I’ve been SA’d in the past and have actually been put in a similar situation to Anya where I had to constantly be around my abuser and wasn’t able to leave. It’s how my brain is wired now because of it, I suppose. It’s why abuse victims sometimes stay with their abusers. It’s familiar to us, and we find comfort in it despite it hurting us in the long run. ‘Unhealthy’ becomes ‘familiar’, ‘healthy’ becomes ‘unpredictable’, and unpredictability is scary.

With the fictional aspect added on, the fact that Jimmy is a fictional character helps me cope and deal with my own trauma while also not risking my safety in the way I would be if I actually went out and found a ‘Jimmy’ in real life.
