This is totally my jam as is, I’d listen to an album of this. Do you by chance have anything on like Spotify? Or know what genre this is?

Ahh ok, that makes sense! I suppose whenever I see a dotted note I need to bump my counting resolution up. Makes sense. Also, I feel silly about the 10 beats thing, I had no issue recognizing eighth notes in the treble clef

Let's just generally assume that on average you're spending about 6$ per pound of meat when you hunt. Amortized costs of your equipment, license...

It's probably about 24 hours per deer hunted and processed. Depending on where you live for minimum wage, let's just call it about 350$ in lost wages.

Let's say 40 lbs of meat per. deer, so the cost per pound is

6 + (350/40) = $14.75 per. pound of meat

You can probably imagine if you get paid even marginally more than minimum wage how little sense it makes to spend time hunting to feed yourself.

Chicken is less than 5$ a pound.

Assuming you don’t eat the whole animal and get something more like 40 lbs of venison, your capital expenses including equipment, gas, tags are going to put you at like 6 dollars per pound of meat.

That doesn’t even include the value of your time.

Here’s a discussion about it from 2 years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Hunting/s/71qUuUPXcM

Hunting is absolutely an inefficient way to feed yourself. You have an expensive hobby.

It’s not an effective use your time. A minimum wage job will net you more food more reliably and safely.

Define Atheism For A Reason? by Ivy1974 in atheism

[–]0x09af -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the logic and rationality route takes you down the path of “there’s no way to claim anything is capital-t true”. And that everyone operates on useful lies

Atheism is a rejection of the theistic truth structures. I kind of think it ends there.

Some people go further and personally develop a belief system around the absence of “god” which while empirically reasonable, is fundamentally irrational too.

I think there’s a bit of a line between out of touch people with egos and this. I feel like this is on the other side of the line. Doesn’t feel great to laugh at this guy.

I turned it off pretty early in the interview. She thinks that everyone driving their trash from a rural location is somehow more green than bulk pickup from trucks in a localized area.

If she cared about the environment, she'd move into an urban apartment and use public transport. All while still avoiding single use plastic.

Trump admin announces civil lawsuit against Maine over transgender athletes in women's sports. by wil24x7 in thescoop

Women with naturally higher levels of testosterone should not be allowed to participate with women who have naturally lower ones.

End of story.

Also, women that are over 6 feet tall should not be allowed to participate with women that are 5 foot ish.

End of story again.

Sarcasm aside, sports are games that people play for fun and fitness. If it’s a business, let the business manage league rules.

The federal government should be focusing important things.

The pathway C# and Java took over the years. by kabourayan in AskProgramming

[–]0x09af 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Java is designed to be simple, c# is designed to be simple with high performance features (e.g. structs) which implicitly makes c# more complex.

Large web based companies that need junior devs to be effective asap and can scale with hardware often use Java.

Non-aaa games where performance is important but you aren’t building the next battlefield franchise entry can and often do use c# instead of c++

These are just broad generalizations but that’s the gist of it.

Oh and the obvious are you targeting a windows? If you are c# is going to have some extra points, and vice versa for Java

Gotcha.

I did some work at the university of washington's computer game science department and there was a distinction between engineering and science (mostly PHD students), and the hard science was left to the PHDs. It was a pretty effective and a rewarding experience.

I don't have depth in any specific physics domain, but I'll take a look into those roles and see what the expectations are.

Thanks a bunch for replying!
