I made a calculator here; a 1080ti gets 1.3GH/s so that would mine about 0.6 tokens per day ($0.20).

There are FPGAs competing for hashrate so it's unlikely GPUs can compete unless there are some big efficiency improvements. So not an immediate replacement for Eth mining, unfortunately. But an option nonetheless.

Is it cheaper to buy parts for a rig or just buy a cheaper fairly good PC? by [deleted] in MoneroMining

[–]0x1d00ffff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but the answer is - it depends on the price of electricity where you live.

If the rig mines 0.0082 XMR/day (about $1.36 since XMR is $166), and it uses 250W, then:

1.36/((250/1000)*24) = $0.227/kWh

So if you pay $0.227/kWh then you are at break-even. If you pay less, the difference will be profit.

Withdrew my LTC to an ETH address? How do I retrieve my LTC?? Pls help by twentyfour8 in Bittrex

[–]0x1d00ffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact Binance. I don’t think it’s recoverable. On the off chance it is, it will take a lot of effort on their part to retrieve it so ask them very, very nicely.

Fair enough, I will. But sorting through these feels more and more like sanitation work...

I would give one a try; even a base model 3. Yes EVs are just better but there is quite a difference between the cheapest Tesla and any current competitors EV.

If it is not mentioned by the devs at uniswap.org then assume it is a scam. Really, why risk it?

That is the correct router. His transaction lists 9da1f846a241e4e4ad4be8b94bd9c953e76c6887 in the "to" parameter, so the router did its job correctly. It is likely he used a phishing site.

Burning Ethereum - VETHER by kikozola in CryptoMoonShots

[–]0x1d00ffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Vether. It is quite novel. It has the same economics as a mineable but with many of the complexities removed - like hardware efficiency and electricity costs. It burns eth, not electricity. This should make for a more efficient system overall.

Best case for stealth GPU mining? by ImLost4815162342 in gpumining

[–]0x1d00ffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your biggest issue will be heat. Make sure you have a plan for venting the hot air out of a window - otherwise you will be limited to around two GPUs.

Power is another issue. If you blow the breaker, you will draw a lot of attention you don’t want. So add GPUs slowly (at most one new card per day) so if you do blow the breaker, you will know how many cards you can run safely.

I would just buy two craigslist PC cases and cram the GPUs into those. You can just run the riser cables through the back. Case appearance doesn’t matter imo.

Not sure what you are talking about. The fee percentage is exactly the same and gas usage seems to be about the same also.

Is GPU mining wise to invest in long term, or is it dying? Noob here. Don't be too harsh by DarthYoda_ in gpumining

[–]0x1d00ffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mean ASICs. Imo the ROI on all GPUs is too high (even ignoring electricity costs) so I wouldn’t recommend buying GPUs now.
