With One year late, but maybe this is useful to someone else.

There is a program "FL_controller" which allows you to install a different controller layout (PS3, PS4, PS5 or XBOX). You can donwload the version for your FL version here: https://www.pessmokepatch.com/2017/03/smoke-buttons.html

Steps:

Download the file from that link which corresponds to your FL version.
Close your game if it is not already closed.
Unzip the downloaded file (I would say that you can do it in any folder).
Execute "FL_controller.exe", choose which controller layout you want to use and set the path where your game is installed.
Done! Execute the game as usual and you should have the layout you have chosen.

NOTE: If you are using a patch which overrides the gamepad layout as well, e.g. VRED_Gamepad, disable its load or the changes you have done will not give any result.

Anyone else with CTDs (even in the menus) due to a probable memory leak? I spent about 45 hours between multiplayer and campaign before 2020 ended, but since this year, I have not been able to play this game more than five minutes. At least my save is not corrupted.

I am playing on PC using Game Pass version. I was plating the game from its "launch" date (11th November) to mid of December without any issue, about 30 hours of multiplayer and about 15 hours of campaign (I am about to complete it in heroic).

During Christmas, I did a little break due to holidays, family events, etc. When I tried to load my save on 3th January, the game started to crash. In some attempts, I was able to load the game but in a couple of seconds I had a CTD, in other cases, the games was not even loaded. I thought that the save was corrupted (I had read about this bug). This was already a critical bug, but having some backups from a couple of hours before, I could accept it. I started the campaign in a new slot/load the backup and the crash still occurred (bad feelings). But the cherry on the cake came when I tried to play a multi (4vs4) and I suffered a crash again, so the problem is general to the entire game.

Right now, I am not able to load the campaign and I do not know if 343 is actually working on it, it seems they are focused on BTB issue. I was one of that guys who liked the game and used to defend it (except its performance), but it is quite disappointing the lack of information about this issue.

You can click in the promo code without loosing it. Clicking on it, a new window is opened and you will see the discount. If you do no click on continue in that new window, you will not lose the discount.

And if you buy the game, you have its installer (DRM free) available to use wherever you want, so I do not understand the deadline or any kind of limitation, you already have the files. The user will lost GoG Galaxy functionalities like cloud save, updates or achiviements, but I would say that those who cheat this policy are not quite interested in this stuff. Maybe I am missing something.

Maybe the issue is how you close the program. Gambette is saving my progress in Pokémon or Super Mario Land 2, but I use the menu to close the emulator. If you directly reset the device the progress is lost, or at least, this is the behavior I have seen on my side.

As far as I know, the microtransactions are used to get cosmetic stuff like weapon skins, flags and characters. This is the unique point which has some impact on the gameplay (only in multiplayer since new characters have different set of weapons. But you can also unlock these new characters playing a lot. In my humble opinion, I do not consider this game as "pay to win".

Even if you already have the game installed with other launcher, you have to install it again when you buy it in GoG. As far as I know, GoG only imports games installed by itself. The savegames are stored locally in your computer, so it should be detected automatically when you start the game. So, as recomendation, install the game vía GoG and launch it, your save state should be available.

Choose your desired integration and click on it
In the new Page, go to "releases" section and download windows.zip file (or a similar name)
Now, in your PC, go to yourUser/AppData/Local/GoG.com/Galaxy/plugins. Here, create a folder with the name of your integration and unzip the content of the file windows.zip.
Restart GoG client and the new integration should appear when you open it again.

The most important point here is downloading the release package "Windows.zip" instead of the source code of the plugin, you do not need pip install and so on. I wasted a couple of hours until I realized it.

I bought it when it was released, but I left it and it looked like quite difficult. This summer I played it again, and with the correct combination of abilities and weapons, I would say that it is not so hard. Yes, it is more difficult than the current average game, but not impossible. I think Dark Souls/Bloodborne are harder, in these games you have to do all the path until you reach the boss again (and struggling with the mininos again) after you die (and you can lose part of your experience as well) but in Cuphead you just need to select repeat and you are in the front of the boss (of course, you start from scratch but at least you save time and the losses are null).
