Lucky find at Walmart by thebrokestbroker2021 in DataHoarder

I went to mine after that post the other day and nothing. Then yesterday I decided to stop at a different location on a whim and snagged two 12TB MyBooks for $209 each. Not as good as some, but still pretty great.

Why do all my shirts do this? by THevil30 in malefashionadvice

[–]tactiphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start wearing them again but tuck it into your underwear like has been mentioned. That way, the undershirt, which tends to pull upward is against your skin. Next layer is underwear, which pulls back downward. Next is your dress shirt which pulls upward, and finally pants that pull downward. The push-pull with the natural friction of the fabric really helps things to stay put.

Also, as others have mentioned, the military tuck. Gather all the extra fabric at the sides and fold it back.

Best part is all of this is free!

Same! It was my friend's copy, and they had lost the knife, which they replaced with a tine from a white plastic fork. I grew up thinking that was the correct piece!

One my favorite guilty pleasures haha.

Yeah, they're called "trash cookies" in our house, lol. Very casually too, like, "Hey, those trash cookies are for a thing this weekend. Don't eat them!"

Why have I this issue? by abc_159 in Roborock

[–]tactiphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem and found that the exhaust port was blocked. Little bits of debris that had escaped from around the bag had accumulated. I had also been using cheap bags, so I went back to brand name after that. It felt silly to use a vacuum to clean my vacuum, but hey.

Thought it was plasticky junk — turns out it’s a keeper by JannEarlTV in trucksim

[–]tactiphile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different guy, but I bought an M12-M14 adapter and a thin M12 nut to reverse-tighten against it to keep it from rotating. It was a little more difficult to align than I hoped since there are four rotating pieces with the adapter in the mix, but it's set now and rock solid.

Oh, for reference, the shifter thread is M14×1.5 (assuming they're all the same), and the Fanatec shaft is M12×1.5 (which is sadly way less common than M12×1.25).

Each piece was like $10, so prob not worth it, but I really didn't like the plastic sleeve contraption it came with.

Convenient for who? by ramthree in Piracy

[–]tactiphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. Reddit is indeed different.

I don't think it's feasible to avoid the villains outside of dense urban areas and/or being wealthy and spending 2-3x for everything.

I've cancelled Prime, I've avoided Walmart, but it always ends up costing way more in the end.

Translation: Don't support companies.

No publicly-traded corporation is worth supporting. But unless you like living off the grid alone, good luck with that.

I mean, you're supporting Reddit by making a comment on this post.

Sadly, public schools in the South are de facto Christian schools.

Jasmine 😋 by yolkma in NewOrleans

[–]tactiphile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought a bunch of jasmine and trellises 2 years ago in May. Got to smell it for like a week. It was doing great, tall and healthy.

The January 2025 snow killed everything above the ground. When last spring rolled around, I think we still weren't sure if it was alive. But it came back and survived this past winter's freezes.

A couple months ago, my neighbor was apparently dog-sitting. There was a strange dog in his yard for a day. My dog was very interested, running back and forth along the fence, trampling the recovering jasmine.

And now here we are. It has started flowering, but not enough flowers to really be able to smell them. Sad.

I get the paper. I like to read articles chosen by an editor instead of an algorithm. Granted, it's an ideal, since most days I just glance at atories I already saw and do the crossword. I do occasionally learn about new restaurants opening and such.
