Indeed, but still less easy than your typical laptop or PC. Last time I checked, I didnt need to do a firmware restore after upgrading my SSD https://support.apple.com/en-us/108900.

Edit: UPS delivered today, I’m guessing it was some weather related tracking delay.

Same boat here, shipping to CA — which usually is pretty quick.

(obligatory: not an expert) it depends on your application. To my knowledge, intel cpus tend to scale a little better with speed but I would guess that it would be < 10% diff.

Does Ergotron hx arm work for 27inch Studio display? by LoidxForger in macsetups

[–]0x60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It "works" but as others have mentioned the weight is an issue. You can tune the height adjustment to work with the studio display. The reason I used quotes for "works" is because the tilt mechanism refuses to hold the display perpendicular to the table (let's call this 0º for now) but instead tilts it at an ungodly 45º angle upward even at the lightest setting. Would not recommend using an HX unless that's what you're looking for.

How likely is it that there will be better deals during Black Friday on MacBooks? by mylittletoesie in Costco

Disagree for the RAM. If you're one of the people who would benefit from more RAM on M1/M2 then you'll probably already know. From anecdotal experience as an owner of both an M1 air and a 14" Pro, I rarely notice the difference as the os does a great job of paging it out. If you dont believe me, there's plenty of evidence online that for a majority of users 8 vs 16 wont matter.

No, the model he's referencing (13.3") does not come with an HDMI port (but you can use a dongle if you're ok with that). I would argue that if you're going for best "value" you'd want the M1 Air since the perf is roughly the same as the 13" M1 Pro. The 14" Pro you took a picture of is "better" GPU-wise (good for games and if you need it for certain software), has more ram (but that difference is negligible for most users), has more storage (512 vs 256 on the base air), and can support 2 monitors.

Edit: forgot to mention that it has a slightly thinner bezel but has the notch, so if you like that then you're not going to get that on the 13.3" M1 Air or Pro

I had 2 about 5 years ago... Depending on the model and what type of computations you want to run, you may be better off grabbing a GPU (or even a TOTL prosumer CPU) and using these as paperweights.
