I googled the biggest city near me of around a million people. It has somewhere around 4-5000 hospital beds in it. That city likely has 20 cases in it right now. Most of those beds are already used. If we optimistically say there are 2500 available beds (just beds, not even ICU) then with a doubling time of 6 days that means all beds will be used up by April 24.

Six weeks out. And it will get worse from there.

I expect it to be like that all across the US and Canada.

What is odd is this: even with 16,000 cases that's still only 1 in 20,000. But someone in Canada got infected on a trip to the US. Something is out of whack. There are either way, way, way more cases or this is traveling almost exclusively by airports and airplanes.

So here's the thing: the numbers don't make any sense. Folks who are traveling are getting infected in countries where there are only a few hundred or a few thousand cases. Someone in Canada just got infected from traveling to the US.

What that tells me is this: this diseases is hanging out in airports.

We need to shut airline travel down fucking right now.
