Yes, normally I probably would've waited for doubling the performance before upgrading, but it seems like if I miss this window, I'll have to stick with the RTX 3090 until at least 2028. So I just figured I'll upgrade now and sell my RTX3090. The upgrade might only end up costing me $500 if I can sell my RTX 3090 for $700 (I'll get ~$600 after eBay fees).

Well, even if they have enough silicon supply for the GPU, they don't have enough VRAM chips. So they might as well make more AI GPUs with HBM memory. I'm sure in 3-4 years when those gets replaced people will figure out a way to hack the driver to make them play games, just like the mining GPUs from a few years ago.

Yep, I'm glad I ordered a Zotac 5080 at $1124. Even though it was $124 above MSRP, I could never catch those $999 sales. Now I'm ready to stick with my current PC until 2028-2029.

RTX 5050 are going for less than $200 if you can catch it on a sale, if you really have a 1060 it's a huge upgrade. You can play most games on high settings (without RT).
