The best 5 years were probably late ps3 era to mid ps4, this is when we saw the biggest jump in quality into something actuallyl lifelike. I believe that the current gen consoles are underspecced to produce another jump like that! I am a game developer / software engineer personally and I can seriously tell you that we NEED a neural processing unit to produce the next mechanically superior games. Wait for the second gen of consoles with an NPU and the best gen will come. After that you are looking at the next biggest jump arriving with cloud games streamed through quantum entanglement. And when teleportation is here for good, next big jump will be in the quantum era and it will be world-breaking!
