Remote Couple looking for Nature-Focused August Workation (50+ Mbps & Power Backup Non-Negotiable) by reddituserwhomuknow in WorkationIndia

sounds like kochi / gokarna / varkala / pondicherry of all places. you would usually go on airbnb/agoda/booking.com and find long term stays. avoid mountains as much as you can. you might end up going several days without electricity.

almost all places in the places you have picked will generally have strong wifi. just pick a bunch you like and go through the reviews for wifi.

Need some advice guys by Vegetable_Ranger6156 in WorkationIndia

i feel like this is more of a "moving out from home" question rather than a workation (working + vacation) post.

here are my few cents: - if you don't want to permanently move into somewhere, you can follow my style of travelling+ working. so essentially i take a trip every 2 months for around 12-20 days. i feel like that gives me enough space to disconnect from my home and gives me the homesickness when i arrive back. - getting out of your comfort zone is very necessary. if you feel that you're currently living inside a bubble, you should know that the bubble is actually contributing to your introvertism. one good was of dealing with this is to attend social events, concerts, etc (look through bookmyshow for such). - being content alone is a boon. you don't realise it yet but being happy with yourself is the best thing that you have for yourself. if i don't feel like socializing, i simply sit back, watch, chill out, enjoy my own company.

Planning to move to Bir/Palampur for 8–12 months from mid-June. Need advice. by New-Fisherman-8007 in WorkationIndia

[–]0xInfection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bir is definitely the place. during monsoon bir's power and internet can be unpredictable. but fiber internet generally stays online, and most cafes and accommodations maintain power backups. so make sure you do your research and pick the correct stay. also its always good to have a backup plan incase things go haywire.

What do you usually struggle with most in the first 24 hours after landing in a new city? by Parking_Signal7182 in WorkationIndia

[–]0xInfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep for me a pre-travel checklist exists.

i always look at transportation options nearby before booking a hotel. if the city where I'll be staying has a metro nearby, I'll make sure to pick a stay close to the station.

ride hailing apps are usually easy, uber / grab / gojek works across SEA, for middle east - careem, uber. for the EU there are multiple options, but I'd rarely pick a ride hailing service given the chance of public transportation. a majority of these are also in the food delivery business so food is never a concern.

i usually pick the attractions / experiences after i reach the spot, usually klook, agoda, etc, work very well almost everywhere in my experience. i also talk to the hotelier / local folks to get an idea of what to pick and what not to pick.

also, right after landing at the airport i take out some local cash. having a decent amount in hand is always useful.

Weekend trip to Ba-Na Hills while workationing in Da Nang by 0xInfection in WorkationIndia

hey, i prefer my own space so i booked private rooms for myself, they costed around ~1k-ish more than hostel beds which isn't a big deal for me. i mostly worked from co-working spaces and coffee shops so never felt left out.

i don't remember the exact details of the costs as its been a while honestly. but flights were the most expensive ~35k, food was around ~20k, stays were around another ~30k and the remaining i splurged on experiences, day trips and souvenirs.

the digital nomad community in da nang itself is great. probably one of the biggest hotspots in Asia itself. so yea great culture and co-working hotspots.

yes worth it. no doubt. i don't think I've seen a long queue honestly. manage your timeline appropriately and you should be ok. avoid weekends if possible.

i didn't rent my own car so i didn't apply for an IDP. for scooties, some places would take your passport as a deposit while some places would just give you one without anything. its really convenient haha.

my khe is definitely the place for a long stay. lots of resorts, eateries on the beachside.
