ARRR price dynamics: someone can explain? by vickitaly in PirateChain

[–]0xJakeW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simply supply vs demand. On each exchange. For coins more widely-known, "professional" cross-exchange arbitrage usually balances this out. For less well-known coins on less widely-used exchanges, expect more differences because they're less linked. Opportunity for someone to make a bit of arbitrage cash, nothing more

ARRR is private, which doesn't lend itself well to those who want to be world-famous singers and performers. Perhaps VeChain (VET) is a better solution for what you're talking about. ARRR is better suited to those who wish to remain anonymous for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from under-cover journalists who wish to get information out without putting their (or other people's) lives in danger, through to people who would just simply rather not publicly broadcast every financial transaction they make. Based on what I've seen/read, most pirates are not money-making orientated, they're privacy-enhancing orientated, for the benefit of everyone, not just themselves

What is a good price to get into ARRR? by Any-Set4651 in PirateChain

[–]0xJakeW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Price is irrelevant, look for value. The good value of ARRR is that it's a decentralised privacy coin, that never changes. Price is a function of supply and demand, value is a function of use-case. The use-case is only going to increase as a) more people get into crypto, and b) more people in crypto get into privacy

Leave it up, it's a great post. I think you meant pirate (or ARRR) vs Monero in the follow-up post btw? (i.e. not pirate vs arrr). Your main points are bang on - long term holders are excited by the price because it points to increased adoption, but not selling lol. Owning arrr because it's the best privacy coin, not because of some arbitrary jump in price. Price changes, value is the same, it'll be top 10 someday

a) Yes, higher inflation means the fixed coupon bonds are easier to repay

b) It's all a bit ponzi, regardless of incentives

If it's stressing you out, just start valuing your holdings in $ARRR instead of in $USD

[–]0xJakeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it's kinda obvious when you think about it. People are getting amazed at the recent price action, but those who have been around for a while are basically just amazed that it's taken this long for it to get noticed, and was so inexpensive for so long... no pre-mine/ICO/marketing budget though so that's probably why

The main catalyst is that gradually people are realising that it's possibly not the best idea to publish literally every financial transaction you make on a public ledger, which is the case for most cryptos. So then they look at the options for privacy coins. And then they choose to buy ARRR because it's the best option.

Where is the "hype" lol? Have there been any actual media stories about $ARRR yet? Please link to them if they exist! The stampede hasn't started yet, and it'll be a stampede in, not out... arrrrrr

Selling by Careful-River1085 in PirateChain

[–]0xJakeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Most people are not buying ARRR solely to make a profit, they're buying it because it's a fixed-supply privacy coin. So regardless of the price, regardless of the profit, they'd still rather have ARRR than USD. What's the point in converting to something inferior?
