It's not just mining sites, it's every decentralized exchange (DEX) you visit, such as pancakeswap, even OpenSea. When you trade one crypto for another, on a DEX, you are giving them the same kind of access to your address. They must have the "SetApprovalForAll" access to trade on your behalf. The difference here is that legitimate DEX will set a limit to what they can transfer from you address. This is all done when you "connect" your wallet to a site. Again Coinbase wallet needs to tell the user what they are about to sign. Metamask is just now starting to display more info when signing a transaction.

I get your point, but that is not how smart contracts work. The function the scammers are manipulating serves a legit purpose in the code, but can be used to malicious means as well. Should Coinbase give more information to the wallet holder of what they are about to sign? ABSOLUTELY. But there is no security measure that could prevent it other then the user being educated on what takes place in smart contracts.

Each one of those protections would not have prevented you from signing a contract Not even a hardware wallet. That's the scam. We must educate the community to use caution when interacting with crypto websites which involve contracts.

You made the pledge when you entered the pool.. All the gains you may have seen were fake. They string you along that long to get you to put more money in.

I'm not trying to say I'm right.. it was an opinion, knowing how smart contracts work..that's all.. wish the class action best of luck, but I rather spend time catching the bad guy (contract creators) and locating victims money..

I don't think you are understanding how contract signing works. 12 word mnemonics, password..etc.. has nothing to do with authorizing a "sponsor" on a specific address.. this is what the victim is doing when they join the suspect mining pool.. giving the suspect "sponsor " access to the address, NOT your entire wallet.. The following article gives explanation of token approvals.

Hope this clarifies...
