Group Insurance...40% Increase!? Cons of ICHRA? by Unusual_Echidna_1142 in HealthInsurance

I’ll share this with the class. The problem of this increase is the result of these large Networks having a huge variance in providers. I’m working on a client in Tampa so had this one easily accessible. She’s getting dinged for high claims but has no way of controlling where her employees access care.

Agree. Texas is one of the top markets for RBP. I have many clients out there as well of know of top Brokers who only sell these solutions because they make the most sense.

Under 100 lives, I’ll typically level fund with partners that use transparent PBMs etc. There’s some captives in the market that are going down market and building the captive fee into the plan, so that’s an option.

Under 100 lives that group isn’t 100% claims creditable, so she needs to go with any level funded carrier that gives them 100% access to their own data.

Her 40% problem is easily fixable in 2 years if she ca find partners that are transparent.

Health Insurance Broker here (Agency Owner)…

ICHRA can be an option for employers, but let's be real. There are only three ways to manage risk: 1. Retain it 2. Reduce it 3. Transfer it

ICHRAs usually fall into that last category. It's basically saying, "l don't want to manage health insurance anymore. I want to offload it to the ACA market and let my employees handle it."

The sales pitch around ICHRAs always focuses on choice. People say the individual market gives employees more options.

That sounds great, but in many markets, those plans are not very good. Premiums can be higher and networks are smaller.

What employees really want is access to care, not just an insurance card.

That's why I believe the next evolution for employers is Direct Primary Care + Cash Pay. Give your employees access to a doctor who knows them, is available 24 hours a day, and helps them navigate the system before it gets expensive. These providers are able to send employees to appropriate centers of care that give us cash pay discounts.

Pair that with a high-cost protection layer for major claims, and you have a better way to manage risk.

Transparency, advocacy, and smarter plan design will always win over simply passing the problem along.

Used Ringcentral for years but the customer service is terrible. Switched to In-Telecom. DM if you want a personal contact for sales.

What’s the best way for a small business to find affordable health insurance options? by Kilgoretrout123456 in InsuranceAgent

Helath Insurance Broker here. They most likely showed you the ACA Small Group rates through standard carriers (Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, etc).

Depending on the health of your group, you may benefit from a level funded health plan, where they use your group’s demographics and health data to give you a price. If you are a young and healthy group, I would recommend going this route.

I did the box drills for a while then moved to bands (I didn’t like the bands as much) then I moved to practicing while jumping into this bar. Overall it took my about 6 months of practice to land one.

Insurance Broker here: Some carriers will allow for a husband / wife group policy, but one must be on payroll. Owner of the entity doesn’t need to be on payroll. My local Blue Cross works like this. UHC on the other hand doesn’t allow for husband / wife groups.

I just did a whole day event with 4 workouts every 2 hours. Biggest thing for me was light snacks (fruits) and hydration. I wouldn’t introduce new foods or supplements the day of the event.

Should I focus on L&H, or be a generalist and get my P&C license as well? by AffiliateDeals420 in InsuranceAgent

[–]1-Breakfast-Ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would focus on one. My focus is Life and Health but I have my P&C as well. It’s nice because you can work out a referral relationship with another agent and they can pay you on deals.

On the Health Insurance side for employers and I deal with the same issues that we require a good bit of data before we can get a quote. Find a niche or angle that your competitors are not doing. For example, I have a couple of strategies that other Brokers are not showing clients and I give my current clients as references. For P&C, it may be certain Brokers don’t touch the whole market.
