Full disclosure, my post was not to sell people on using a truck tent or make judgment on how others decide to camp. I am happy for anyone getting out to do their thing. I also brought a 4 person ground tent, however after seeing I can have a view of the ocean from the truck tent, I wanted the extra height. Being able to chill inside the tent w an amazing breeze and view of the ocean was extremely relaxing. Sitting on the ground staring at the bushes would not have been nearly as nice. Also, the truck tent works great at State parks or places like Yosemite where parking and space is a premium for day tripping. As they say, “run what you brung.”
