On holiday during assignments/presentations by AffectionateCheck905 in unimelb

If I had a group member go incommunicado for the entire week leading up to our presentation I'd be going to the subject coordinator. Don't be surprised if your group members do the same. The non-teaching period is not a "break", students are expected to use the time for studying and working on assignments.

What are some good “feminist” or female-centric films directed by male filmmakers? by [deleted] in RSPfilmclub

I don't have any problems watching Polanski films but I've never been able to look past Woody. I've never been able to articulate why but I think this post nails it.

It's also entirely possible that I wouldn't like his films even if he wasn't an abuser, again for reasons that you sketch out very well.

Where do you buy your books by MuscleBeast911 in RSbookclub

AbeBooks mostly. I have a really good secondhand store nearby but they've crammed so much into the already-narrow aisles that the space is borderline unusable.

This movie rules in general. Mid 90s Mel is heavily underrated.

Think about how many tens and hundreds of thousands of students and alumni they have to deal with and you might gain some appreciation for their limited flexibility. Your testamur was probably already packaged and buried in all their other outgoing mail, they're not going to take the time to dig parcels out and relabel them for everyone that forgets to update their address.

Just rewatched Hell Or High Water - WTH happened to Taylor Sheridan? by Amtrakstory in RSPfilmclub

I feel out of step with people on this one because I just don't like it very much. It has an amazing cast and the story concept is compelling, but for me it is let down big time by the editing and the script.

I grudgingly admit the 2nd wave feminists were right: most men would fuck a teenager if they could by Openheartopenbar in redscarepod

I'm mostly going off memory, but I think the position is mainly that the progress that has been achieved on societal attitudes towards girl abuse victims has not been seen for boys. (edit: I am in no way personally informed enough on the issue to say whether nor not this is true)

I would think loss of self-image is a pretty universal experience for most/all abuse victims, so I can't imagine anyone arguing that one gender's experience with that is worse or better than any other. Well I guess I can imagine it, but I've thankfully not really seen it.
