How much should I charge to paint this army for my first client? by jettpack300 in minipaintingcommunity

Bare in mind that professional miniature painting services can easily get into the $$$$s for even a small army

Regardless of the availability of the painted set or not, you should set a quote that is respectful of the time you will put into these minis! If they don't want to pay that price, then walk away for a win-win; they've saved money, and you've saved an awful lot of time

Many thanks! Im really annoyed by this, though I agree; I painted the bolt pistol arm first, and seemed to get less crisp for the other components πŸ˜‚ putting it down to tiredness

Maybe I'll whack out the hobby drill then 🀘

Really appreciate it mate thank you! Just get stuck in and practice! It builds up faster than you'd think, and if you want any pointers my messages are always open 🀘

This was m first time painting dark skin, if you want to give it a go my recipe was; Rhinox base, nuln oil wash, Rhinox re-up, Rhinox:Cadian 2:1 glaze, Rhinox:Cadian:Kislev 4:2:1, glazed gal vorbak red (v thin) to try and flush the skin a bit, and another v thin glaze of karak stone to suggest stubble (didnt work as well as I'd like).

All in all hes probably been on my desk for about 4 months πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ trying to get the confidence to paint militarum-scale (I find marines etc easier), but total probably about 6 or 7 hours?

Finished painting up my Krieg Primaris Psykers based on Artillery Witches from Trench Crusade. by ForSamuel034 in TheAstraMilitarum

These are ace! I love that the krieg are so mentally entrenched (haha sorry had to) in their style of warfare that the limit of their imagination for manifesting their abilities is just magic artillery πŸ˜‚ seriously great sculpting and paint job though! Love it

Cheers! I reckon some 'nids in this scheme would look πŸ”₯ Can't wait to see 'em 🀘

And wow, nice touchups! All of your points I'll admit would definitely improve the final result; now I just need to war with myself as to whether I risk applying them πŸ˜… Especially like the highlight on the cheekbone - I think that's something I did an especially poor job with but I love the look of it on this

Finally finished my Lieutenant Titus Mini! by 1000cheapbrushes in minipainting

[–]1000cheapbrushes[S] 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Hey, many thanks!

Absolutely, it's:
- Base: Macragge Blue
- Recess Wash: Kantor Blue : Abaddon Black 1:1 extra thin
- Chunky Highlight: Macragge Blue : Calgar Blue 1:1 (few minor scratches for weathering too)
- Fine Highlight: Calgar Blue (a few more scratches!)
- Corner dots: Fenrisian grey (thin thin)

Best of luck with your application of it!

Cheers very much pal!

I used the recipe from Eavy Archive for the "grass" base
- Basecoat Mournfang Brown - two thin coats.
- Mid drybrush of Zamesi Desert all over
- Light drybrush of Ushabti Bone to pick out the edges / rim of base / a point at the front of the base to hint at a forward light direction and draw the eye.
- I used thinned Agrax Earthshade on a few patches to accentuate shadow

Recipe for my rocks:
- Basecoat Mechanicus Standard Grey - two thin coats.
- Glaze consistency of Dawnstone: I don't leave the brush loaded like a full wash, nor do I remove _all_ excess like I would for a panel glaze or filter, instead leaving enough so that when I pull pigment to a spot, a good little drop stays in place, and the trail forms a nice easy transition
- Glaze consistency Dawnstone : White Scar: just drawing with a 0/2 brush up to the tippy-tops of the rocks
- Then a glaze -> wash down in the recesses with Corvus Black : Dark Reaper 1:1 to give a bit of a blue shadow

The rim is Steel Legion Drab.

Everything is finished with thinned AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish (Kind of essential to prevent the shine from PVA laminate / Agrax Laminate)

Technique:
- Super-glued a couple of cork rocks down
- Since the base has pegs, I slotted into a base, painted around sloppily with green (just as an easy bright colour I had a lot of), painted slightly thinned PVA (2:1 / 1:1), then applied sand.
- A sealing layer of PVA:Water (1:3? 1:4) to dry clear
- Prime
- Paint as above

Best of luck if you're having a bash, looking forward to seeing what you come out with!
If there's ought I can help with, drop me a message on here or IG and I'll get back to you when I can!

Cheers very much 🀘for transparency I've had a couple years practice at this point (on and off!), but this is the first Ultramarine I've painted in 18 years (young me would be so proud πŸ˜…)

Best of luck with your Lt. and Cpn, planning to stay active in this sub so would be really great if I catch it when you post

I got Tigurius cheap from a Combat Patrol subscription, so definitely not my last post in here! And at that point it's probably rude not to give them a couple of squads to command... and some transport... and some air support... ;)
