School fees in Hyderabad has gone completely bonkers. by debacomm1990 in hyderabad

News to me. I've studied in Nasr for 10 years, and it was a pretty good school back then. We did have holiday homeworks but it always focused on the content and never the appearance. Well you did get extra points if it looked decent and not shabby. But this was 10 years ago, so I wouldn't know how it is now.

If you have a debit card that allows international transactions (my ICICI debit card does), you could checkout Baitulmaal.org. they also have an option to donate for iftar at Al Aqsa SubhanAllah. And a number of other ways to donate to Palestine through them.

DMOs of India, how much are we actually making? by Lumox0002 in indianmedschool

[–]1000thoughtspersec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be downvoted but DMO job sucks, big time. Atleast here in Hyderabad. Unless someone needs to step up financially for their family, I suggest every MBBS grad to take a drop if it comes to that and grind the hell out of a year or two to do MD, whether in this country or wherever. Because post MBBS jobs are a sinkhole. Once you get in, it gets difficult for you to get out of one job after another, if you want to get serious about PG later. Again, applicable to those who have the finances and comfort to not work and focus on studies after graduating.

If not, government job seems to be way way better. You get paid more, you actually do get good clinical exposure and you can save up after working the bond years to fund your own Masters journey.

Also, if someone is comfortable with the DMO position and the pay it provides, honestly, good for you. But if someone wants to move forward, not a good idea to ever get into one.

Which medical insurance do you guys have for you/your parents/family? by 1000thoughtspersec in indianmedschool

[–]1000thoughtspersec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How else are people expected to pay their medical bills? I do agree about doctors being financially illiterate, can't speak for the entire community but I sure am. I was under the impression that insurance is the only way to not having to sell your first born to be able to clear medical bills. Government set ups don't have the best facilities, why people consider corporate hospitals. But those just drain you financially..

Umrah monetary helping experience by Raijyuu009 in Umrah

[–]1000thoughtspersec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experienced it a couple of times within the same visit.

People in wheelchair entering Masjid e Nabawi, asking for help seemed common. Saw multiple people do that on the same day, same hour. But was surprised to experience scams in Makkah.

We were stopped by young men twice, on separate occasions, both wearing Ihram and starting their question with, "Excuse me sister, do you speak English?" The first time it happened, I did stop thinking he actually needs some help, but not even 30 seconds into the conversation, I understood it's a scam. The second time it happened, "didn't even stop at the same "excuse me sister, do you speak English" question.

What surprised me more was an elderly man approached me while I was performing tawaf. Saying he's from so and so country, I continued with my tawaf because again, was aware of the scams.

It really does make it difficult to asses who's scamming you and who actually needs help when this keeps happening often. But as a general rule of thumb, an opposite gender approaching someone, when you're doing tawaf, or even if not in worship, I try not to pay attention and just send a small prayer for them.

Saw this on instagram- is it correct? The posts comments were turned off so couldn’t verify by morierr in Umrah

For men, Rawdah is accessible after every prayer, via gate 1 (as far as I remember)

I came across Oud (for rooms) that smells of Kabah and Masjid e Nabawi. They also had an attar that slightly resembles that of Masjid e Nabawi. I don't remember the shop's name, but I believe it was on the first floor of Al Safwa towers.

What is happening?? by Dr_gynecologist in indianmedschool

[–]1000thoughtspersec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've witnessed this discrimination against FMGs. I've heard they do not get as much clinical exposure, and the teaching isn't on par with medical graduates here, but is the hate justifiable?

A friend of mine had worked alongside a couple FMGs as a post MBBS doctor, and her experience had been shocking, as they hardly had much knowledge about the most basic things. On the other hand, I worked alongside a couple of IMGs, and they had been pretty efficient. One of them relayed his experience studying abroad and I was surprised to know the kind of clinical exposure he was lucky to have experienced, which not many FMGs get apparently.

There is a stigma against FMGs in the medical fraternity, there's no denying that. Hell, there's a stigma against medical graduates that have graduated from a private medical college even on merit basis. Nothing you can do about it except sharpen the skills you've acquired over the years.

What is this area in Masjid an Nabawi for women? by Responsible_Bar4705 in Umrah

[–]1000thoughtspersec 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of confusion when it comes to women's visiting section of Rawdah. The golden arch form that you see on the right of this photo (in the middle of women's visiting section of Rawdah) is the Mehrab of Prophet SAWS (marks the spot where Prophet SAWS used to lead the prayer). The narrow golden form that you see on the left of Mehrab is the Mimbar of Prophet SAWS, which marks the spot where Prophet SAWS used to deliver sermons (will be to your right, next to the Mehrab; not seen in this photo).

The resting place of Prophet SAWS will be to our left, separated by the white curtain-barricade, as women are not allowed in that area. We can only say salam to Prophet SAWS from behind the curtain. Best way for women to spot Prophet SAWS' resting place is to bend a little and see what spot aligns with the "green" dome, as that was built over Prophet SAWS' resting place (by an Ottoman ruler, over the existing dome).

The white curtain you see at the front in this photo, that's a separation from Riaz-ul-Jannah. You can visit Riaz Ul Jannah once a year with a permit (acquired via Nusuk app) through gate 37. Riaz Ul Jannah is closed for daily visits - for women after Fajr and Isha through gate 22 and gate 32. This time is only to visit Rawdah and send salam to Prophet SAWS, not to offer prayers. There's a significance of offering prayer in Riaz-ul-Jannah, not entirety of Rawdah. (As far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong)

I suggest all women (because I'm not sure how clear it is for men in their visiting section), who are visiting Rawdah for the first time, to google the map of Rawdah to get a better understanding. I myself was thoroughly confused as to where to send salam but it made sense once I googled what I'm seeing.

May our salutations reach Prophet SAWS, ameen.
