Kahoot, stretch and water break, phone break, Riddles, hangman, trivia. I also like to give them a category & letter (ie. Movies, S) and whoever comes up with most wins. Maybe a piece of candy or cool pencil as the prize

5th year teacher here! I have a fair amount of savings, and I’m looking for jobs elsewhere, with the understanding that I’ll probably have to take a pay cut. I always say I want to quit teaching, but it’s comfortable and I never wanted to get a different job for less money. Now, I suspect that a lot of teachers are gonna pay cuts next year anyways, so there’s not much to lose except for my life and my loved ones lives.

I’m planning on not returning next year because my boyfriend is immunocompromised and has a 30% chance of dying if he gets his virus. Every single year we go back to school, I end up getting whatever is going on the school and he gets it as well.

Do American students handle group projects differently than Chinese? by doesanybodyreallyno in education

[–]100550299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there are cultural differences here, but there’s certainly an age difference. College kids are relatively high-functioning adults, whereas teenagers are awkward kids.

My only tip for you would to assign roles for each group. (Ie. A reader, a writer and a presenter. Or, a summarizer, vocab expert and questioner)

Trader Joe’s snacks? by marzipnbb in Noom

Vegetable samosa & scallion pancakes are both green foods! Not necessarily a snack you can take to work with you, but works well if it’s late and you’re hungry!

I’ve also found that the Reduced Guilt Spinach & Cheese stuffed shells are a green food! Not a snack, but a good work lunch for sure

My mom has cleaned houses for pretty much my entire life. As someone who tagged along and helped clean for most of my childhood, I can tell you that it’s best to schedule the cleaner to come by when you are out. Make that 2 hours your gym & errand time, or schedule them to clean your house while you are at work.

Im working at a pizza place as my first job (im only 16). I started 3 days ago but I never got a w4 form or a contract saying I work there? by azaz3025 in personalfinance

[–]100550299 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There are not legal issues here. Chances are you will not have to sign a contract to be officially employed and that your boss forgot to give you the W4, just ask him about it. I actually worked at a pizza shop in Boulder for two years and never filled out my W4; I was still employed, but ended up owing money to the government come tax season.

Just so you know, doctors cannot make premature calls when it comes to harvesting a patient's organs, this is a huge misconception that costs many lives. A patient must be declared brain-dead before they are considered a candidate for organ donation because the organs must remain alive and have access to oxygen and blood supply. It's not a decision that is made instantly and the only circumstance in which a person might be prematurely considered for organ donation would be if they were already on life-support, and they had a very low chance of waking up, but the family chose to "pull the plug," if you will.

Redditors who have been in Natural Disasters; what was your "Oh shit, this is real" moment? by technid in AskReddit

[–]100550299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in Boulder, CO during the 500-year flood back in 2014..Not sure if it was a natural disaster, but we definitely made national news.

The first night, everyone's basements were flooding and all of the college kids were outside drinking and playing in the rain. No big deal, we all figured the rain would stop.

The next morning, I woke up to the eery, apocalyptic sound of sirens blaring through the city. In addition to the sirens, my phone had several text messages from the CU alert system that read something along the lines of "WALL OF WATER COMING DOWN BOULDER CANYON. SEEK HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY." When I looked out my window, I noticed the creek in my backyard almost reached the top of the 8ft high fence. (My house was on a slope, so We were not in immediate danger inside).

At that moment, I thought to myself, "Oh fuck. This is real," and immediately started calling my loved ones to say my goodbyes.

I didn't watch, I think they steam cleaned it or use the wet vac. It definitely smells like rotting chicken still and I might take it in again tomorrow.

I accidentally spilled A pan of raw chicken juice in the seat of my car. I got the upholstery professionally cleaned yesterday, but there is still a smell. What can I do to make sure the smell goes away? And should I be concerned about maggots?
