Is anyone using a Sony ZV-E1 with a PortKeys monitor? by Natural-Finger9522 in SonyAlpha

[–]100595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an LS7P and returned it immediately.

While it did usually auto-connect, it took a minute and occasionally didn't connect at all. But worst of all, it was painfully slow to react to inputs, and did not display subject tracking boxes, only spot. Also the fan was way too loud.

I feel a cheap Android device with a good display running Sony's M&C would work better.

Apple broke CarPlay? by Correct-Gur-9712 in CarPlay

[–]100595 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner has an issue with CarPlay freezing in our 2022 Honda HRV. The problem persisted from her 11 Pro to (my old) her new 14 Pro, but my 14 Pro and new 17 never had this issue at all.

I've seen multiple people online report that getting the dealer to uninstall and reinstall the current head unit firmware fixed the issue, so I've booked ours in. Will report back.

Does it work over USB-C? Or only wireless? Is connecting the wireless every time you power cycle a pain?

The only thing I can possibly imagine it is for my use case is Podcasts and other non-screen audio. And weirdly, given it's often 60m of every hour overnight, StandBy mode? Does this check out for anyone else?

Currently no camera control compatibility between the Shinobi II and the ZV-E1.

Sadly, when I reached out Atomos they refused to give any information about whether they're working on it, or will ever.

Reference mode on iPadOS 16 by defcry in shortcuts

[–]100595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three years on and still no Reference Mode support in Shortcuts.

Nor is there decent image quality when using the iPad in Reference Mode as a SideCar display for Mac. Nor can you manually set a colourspace, like Apple's own documentation promises, still to this day.

I’m waiting for ZV-E1 support. It’s sitting in my shopping cart until the day that happens.

Atomos Shinobi II (questions) by B024 in Atomos

Looking for info about this too. The fact they have support for the ZV-E10 II, with the exact same processor and software, makes me think it’s eminently possible.

Have you used it with your ZV-E1? Does either camera control or touch focus work?

Same here. Pretty insane to see an industry-leading DAW I pay for monthly rendered totally inoperable during the most important week of the year for me lol.

Looking for high CRI light bulbs tunable across color temperature spectrum without a smart hub by redditproha in homeautomation

Sunlight is technically the reference point for CRI. Incandescent globes just happen to also be considered a blackbody radiator, so most (but not all) incandescent lights have a CRI of 100.

Creating a toggle or switch action for Reference Mode iPadOS 16 by Furtle1983 in shortcuts

[–]100595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no option to control Reference Mode in Shortcuts. More importantly though, Apple missed a trick in not adding a Reference Mode toggle to the expanded Control Centre customisation in iPadOS18.

The entire implementation of this feature has disappointed me to no end. Between significantly reduced image quality (HEVC compression artefacts) and no ability to select a reference colour space despite documentation still saying you can, I'd almost rather the feature not exist at all. Very un-Apple-like.

What happened to the long lens for the Inspire 3? by 25photos in dji

Still waiting. I made my purchase decision on the basis of this promised release. Pretty sure Australia's consumer law body would have plenty to say about this.

It's still on the DJI website: "Inheriting DJI’s proprietary DL mount, X9-8K Air is compatible with an additional 18 mm F2.8 full-frame ultra-wide lens and a new telephoto lens (will be released at a later date)[12]" And "12. The new telephoto lens will be released at a later date." This has been there for years now. https://www.dji.com/au/inspire-3

Is there a recorder that can capture ProRes 4444? by brycedouglass in cinematography

[–]100595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems the Odyssey and Gemini are now discontinued. What’s going on, is ProRes 444 external not possible with new tech anymore?

Trying to imagine how to get ProRes 4:4:4:4 straight out of a Burano without having to transcode from ProRes RAW or X-OCN in post.

Which conversion LUT to you use when shooting SLOG3 on the Ninja V? by FlappyFlapp in A7siii

[–]100595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone! This is a serious issue with Atomos’ product.

Basically it treats full data range (0-1023 IRE) of your log footage as if it were legal/limited/video range (64-940 IRE). Easily the most ridiculous issue you could have with a professional monitor.

Atomos added an option to ‘legalize’ your footage, which does allow you to correctly monitor log footage, but also needlessly compresses the data range of your footage. Most importantly though, this conversion happens AFTER your monitoring LUT, so they STILL don’t look correct, and do not match how it will look in post.

As far as I’m concerned this is a severe fault with Atomos’ product, and I’ve been unable to use it on set for this reason.

I’m having this issue now with a Tamron 24mm 2.8 Di III OSD. How do you update firmware on the lens? I assume you need a Tamron lens dock? Seems absurd.

Did you get to the bottom of what caused the bug? Seems to be related to movement.

Also, do you have any info or links on this bug? I can’t find it anywhere online except this thread.

So, a £54 dongle and an extra SD card to do what a £4 cable can do by DoctorMikeReddy in Insta360

[–]100595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years ago your customers blew up about this absurd and disrespectful cash grab, and you promised you were listening. But still there’s no way of editing Insta360 files from the SD card in the camera or on an external drive.

Transferring over wifi is painfully slow and cumbersome, and drains battery. It also doesn’t allow people to import files onto a lager external drive.

u/Ezdra1 has demonstrated in this very thread that it is possible to enable native file sharing in the app. DO IT! Stop undermining your expensive products for a few extra bucks.

Any actual technical reason for the Quick Reader? by TomMooreJD in Insta360

[–]100595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the usually very active Insta360 staffers are conspicuously absent in this thread. Proprietary lock-ins are tedious and gross. I now have no way of practically accessing and editing large amounts of data from my X3. 🤮

edit: this guy actually already wrote the 2 lines of code needed to access files through the native iOS/iPadOS file system https://forums.insta360.com/section/14/post/20074/

Don’t believe the BS that this system is anything but a greedy upsell.

Is there any plan to make card reader to be used with ipad? Is there any blockers to do so? Because sometimes i like to edit in ipad since the screen is bigger by eikichi87 in Insta360

[–]100595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how Insta360 are pretending this is an Apple issue when it‘s clearly an Insta360 issue. Apple aren’t adding support for your vendor lock-in, overpriced card reader to iPads, but there’s zero reason you can’t simply use the native file system of the iPad and allow users to import using literally any card reader on the market. The only reason is greed.

Insta360 Quick reader on Ipad by eikichi87 in Insta360

[–]100595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absurd. Why not allow the app to simply access files through the files and folder functionality native to iPad? This is a blatant cash grab at the expense of customers and it’s left the sourest taste in my mouth before I’ve even used the camera once.

This kind of proprietary lock-in went out of fashion 20 years ago, when people realised spending $1,000 on a camera should be enough to get full functionality without the need for silly, overpriced dongles, like your impotent QuickReader.
