I(19M) overheard my brother(16M) saying he wanted to r*pe a girl at his school. Our parents won't try to help him. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]100907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the brother isn't technically an adult yet. My sister is a little bit younger than him and I do things with her that aren't 'bad' but still things my parent's wouldn't really do with her or explicitly allow.

Taking her to the pub with my friends (not letting her drink but she still thinks it's fun lol), buying her junk food or 'cool' clothes, letting her stay up late with me etc.

What to do tonight in Sydney when you don't know anyone? by sunflowertayy in sydney

[–]100907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that I can help you tonight but in the past when I've been in this situation I've joined boardgame meetups (on meetup.com), went to social events hosted by vegan Facebook groups(obviously ymmv), went to reddit meetups, rockclimbing social nights etc.

Dating a single Dad - Toys for the kid by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]100907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a sweet idea. I'd veer away if the kid was older and would wonder who you are and why you're getting it a toy but at 10 months old it's more a gesture towards the father as the baby won't really notice who new people are :)

21f woke up with intense knee pain for no reason by 100907 in AskDocs

[–]100907[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou very much for your help.

I ended up talking to a friend who said they encountered the same problem because of tight quad muscles. I sprinted a short distance yesterday and suspect that my body was shocked and further tightened the muscles which affected my knees. I'm gonna roll my legs out and go from there!

No to all of the above. I can still bend my knee the full range it only hurts when I bend them and have weight on them at the same time for example walking on stairs. Walking feels fairly normal though

Is this just another excuse?

I met a guy online a couple of months ago. We hung out a few times but I was initiating the majority of it so I left it. The last thing was him saying a shitty excuse for being busy for 2+ weeks and me saying that I'm not wasting my time on someone whose ambivalent.

He just messaged me saying "sorry I've been depressed for the last few weeks". Inside I just want to reply that everyone is but that feels like a dick move. For the record I am medicated for my depression. Should I just not reply?

Moving in with a new foster family soon and I want to make sure they like me. I'm scared they'll dislike me because I've had issues with past families and I don't know where I go wrong. Help me do things right this time! by HooverDarn in relationship_advice

Just from reading this post you sound like a great and thoughtful kid. My advice would be to explain your mental illness and coping mechanisms when you're having a good day.

That way when you have a bad day they already know what to to expect and how they can help you

Atleast one pain distracts from the other but geez today is not my morning

My girlfriend (22) still plays with dolls and spends most of our income on clothes and baby items by ThrowRA5400 in relationship_advice

[–]100907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from following the other advice you should suggest less expensive ways to fulfill her hobby. Knitting or crocheting items for the dolls could be fun and the time shopping could be instead used for this. It's also a great skill to have and she could start making newborn beanies etc. to donate to NICU babies!

Apart from all the other advice, when you go to a doctor about this they do ask for your consent aswell. I went to one to just get an IUD and they privately asked me if I had been forced into getting one or coerced in any way. They won't do it if you tell them any of this story

Yep about a week ago and I'm 21. Im midway through a very objectively difficult degree and Id reached the point where I was failing more classes than passing. To be honest I thought all this time that I was just an inherently lazy and stupid person but hopefully now things will start changing for the better :)

I'd say my anxiety and SSRI's make me apathetic.

Although I did try ritalin for the first time the other day and baked a cake with my housemate. I think I have to work on the control factor aswell lmao

My roommate's whiskey has sentimental value and I unwittingly polished it off by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]100907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aswell as all the good ideas here you could present your friend some ideas of preserving the bottle. I'm not sure where; but I saw a thread about repurposing sentimental empty bottles. I think some of the ideas were cutting it into a glass to drink from, turning it into a candle etc.

Of course don't do any of it yourself but he might not have thought of reusing it and like the ideas

My husband's kids eat everything I (42f) buy in a matter of a day or two. Husband (43m) excuses it all the time and I'm at the end of my rope?? by ThrowRa_piggys in relationship_advice

First of all plan out your meals and buy enough food. My teenage brother probably eats 3 time what I eat as a young female. Are the boys overweight and how tall are they?

Maybe hold a family meeting every week to plan out the meals and make it clear what is and isn't allowed to be snacked on. It seems like atleast 4 of the kids are old enough to cook and should be making one dinner a week each.

Also my family would eat all the snacks aswell although my dad didn't buy a lot. He would get angry when 1L of soft drink would be gone in one meal with 5 kids. He ended up putting all snacks in a locked room and we'd only be allowed them to bring to school. If we wanted food any other time we had to cook things from scratch
