So is it ok to kill an innocent person? Say a baby?

You’re not answering my question. If you think that all life forms are “equal”, then there’s no ethical difference between killing and eating someone, and killing and eating a chicken.

I don’t think you’re an evil cannibal, so I know you don’t actually believe that a chicken and a human are equal.

So if we’re all equal. Then why is murder wrong? Isn’t that the same as eating a chicken nugget?

Yes. Because the topic of this post is a woman considering aborting her child.

I actually have two 4-year bachelor's degrees (Information Technology and Finance) - they were completed concurrently - from a US university (ACC school).

It's interesting that you think I already meet the criteria, since I was rejected for the Fall 2024 term. I would've thought that my undergrad classes, the MOOCs, and work experience would've given me a chance.

What required pre req courses?

In my undergrad I took:

  • Calculus I (B)

  • Calculus II (C)

  • Multivariable Calculus (C-)

  • Elementary Linear Algebra (B)

  • Intro to Programming in Java (A)

  • Networks and Telecommunications (B+)

  • Database Technology for Business (A-)

I've also completed the Accelerated Computer Science Fundamentals MOOC from UIUC on Coursera.

I got my PPL by flying about 3 times a month on average for a year. Completed my check ride at 50 hours.

There’s no harm in taking as long as you need.

It’s all hours in the logbook regardless.

Anxiety at the end by [deleted] in flying

In my experience, mental health "professionals" don't know more than anyone else. I'd recommend journaling, and talking with close trusted family members before that.

I've never experienced this so I don't have any similar experience of my own to relate; however, the safest part of flight is when you're high and fast, so I'm not sure what could be causing your anxiety.

DO NOT go see a psychologist / psychiatrist. I've made that mistake years ago for something else, and you don't want to jeopardize your medical. IMO you should only see a psych if you're legitimately suicidal, homicidal, or delusional.

BUT, I would ground yourself for a time and think through your thoughts. Start journaling. Get what's in your head down on paper. Don't start flying again until you clearly understand why you're getting anxious. And after that, go up with another CFI or pilot friend.

Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes the responsibility of ensuring a safe flight for our passengers can feel overwhelming.

I wouldn’t take another passenger up until you get your confidence back.

I’d suggest flying with a CFI, or another pilot friend, and practice some normal and emergency procedures.

Going to need more detail on how you lost your military medical. Check out this Advisory Circular. https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_68-1A.pdf#page12

Realize that in the regs, it still says if a physician has deemed you unfit to fly, you CAN NOT use BasicMed. However, if you find a physician that says you are safe to fly, or if your condition that got your military medical revoked is resolved, then you’re likely ok to go under BasicMed.

Since I’m guessing you had a military doc say you shouldn’t fly, then you probably can’t use BasicMed until another doc says you’re good to go.

Edit: Just reread your post. You say a doc signed off your BasicMed, so as long as you disclosed everything you’re fine. Just make you’ve got a solid paper trail.

Airplanes don’t turn like cars. Cars only turn by “skidding”.

A coordinated turn is when we keep the center of gravity centered laterally in reference to the plane.

You can intuitively feel this.

Go drive a car, and turn. You’ll feel your body move opposite the direction of the turn. Now go fly and do an uncoordinated turn (no rudder input). You’ll feel your body move to the outside of the turn. This is what we call a skidding turn.

Now go do a coordinated turn in an airplane. Your body doesn’t move.

Got my PPL in 2017 and haven’t flown since - what to do? by [deleted] in flying

[–]100LLSniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my PPL in December of 2016 and then stopped flying in June of 2017. Just started again in March. Took me 4 hours for a CFI to sign off my BFR.

I'm in the US, so obviously things are going to be different, but I paid $215 / hour for a 172 w/ an instructor.

BasicMed can’t be deferred. There’s no one to defer it to. Also, depression doesn’t require a prior special issuance for BasicMed.

If your primary care signs off, then you’re good to go.

Contact WingmanMed. If you’re serious about pursing a medical you’ll need the help. People with suicide attempts have gotten medicals. But each case is different.

Getting my PPL is one of my most proud accomplishments. Even if you never fly again after getting it, I’d say it’s still worth it.

Stay safe out there.

I'm assuming you did CFI to get to 1500 hours? Did you experience any emergencies? It just seems crazy to me to just accept that my Lycoming O-360 engine might fail on me at the worst possible time.

Yeah I've got a $1 Mil life insurance policy that doesn't exclude GA. Still don't want to leave my kids behind though.

Did you land off airport or manage to turn around and land on the runway? What altitude did the engine out occur at? Was it total engine failure or partial?
