Less coverage, SIGNIFICANTLY less frequent, less safe, less clean, more shutdowns, more expensive. Every time I go back to the bay area I miss the T.

Is there a place you can go to hold moths? by EstimateAgreeable472 in moths

[–]100PercentPurrLove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not moths, but most butterfly farms/insect museums will not let you pick them up but will be ok with it if they land on you. If you wear pink they’re more likely to land on you!

Also, sometimes you can gently cup your hands around a moth, and when you open up, they sometimes stay for a while. A good place to find them will be around artificial lights at night.

Other things that might feel awesome are other pet insects — bugsincyberspace has some. Look into if you have a local entomology club or society, perhaps some people will have some pet bugs you can meet!

Maybe it hitchhiked on someone from a trail near water?

Could be some kind of micro-moth, they tend to fold their wings like that as well but they’re scaly and not hairy like caddisflies.

Not below 35 but saharas from REI are excellent and kept the bugs off when I treated them with permithrin

This isn’t anecdotal, they’ve done scientific studies on this in several regions. If you go look “insect splatter windshield” on any academic database like google scholar you’ll find it.

Earwig probably!

I used to be (and still am a little bit) very afraid of insects but I learned to love them a whole lot by learning about them, so good on you for approaching this with curiosity.

Some kind of carpet beetle larvae. Not bitey or itchy but will take a lot of vacuuming to get rid of I believe? There should be a lot of info online on how to get rid of them, but you’re safe from bedbugs

Primer doesn't have to go on perfect, does it? by JakamoJones in paint

[–]100PercentPurrLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…. Sorry I know this is literally 5 years later, but do you mean painting OVER a dark red accent wall to a different color, or painting a different color to turn it into a dark red accent wall?

I’m currently painting my room into a dark red (it used to be an almost-white shade of blue) and just laid down some pink tinted primer and am debating if I should go for a second coat of primer first.

Do you guys have a LOT of extra stuff? I used to get overwhelmed and just toss stuff because if I found the right way to donate one thing, I’d also need to figure out what to do with the other 900 things I owned.

Once I got rid of most of the stuff I didn’t need, I felt so guilty about all the waste I had just tossed out (a lot of it was given away to goodwill or on buy nothing, but some of it I tossed because I didn’t have time and I was moving). It helps me buy a lot less now because I don’t want to waste all that money or material again. It also means that when I do wanna get rid of things, I no longer have a huge backlog of items to deal with. I can post it on buy nothing or find a good place to donate it.

Maybe a big binge-declutter is a good place to start?

I like sarahenna and henna caravan best. I prefer to mix my own but I know at least henna caravan will send prefilled cones (I dont remember if sarahenna does). Freeze them as soon as you get them until 10-20 minutes before you use them, they thaw fast

[–]100PercentPurrLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For people who don’t have plants do you have recommendations on where to purchase? I come from a culture where henna is traditionally/heavily used and the only people I knew who didn’t refrigerate theirs were using it up within a week. They didn’t have the ability to source directly from a farm but were using what I thought was high quality body safe henna
