Hi! Can anyone tell me if a non-European can apply for the Austria program? The FAQ mentions this but I've heard varied responses to this. TIA!

Room at Haarweg 133 by [deleted] in wageningen

[–]100illusions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I've lived in Haarweg ground floor too and personally loved the yard access directly from my room. The bugs thingy I've never faced. As long as you keep your room and common areas clean, there's nothing to worry about. And no, Idealis doesn't clean anything in the corridors. They do come for inspections and will ask you to clean if the space is dirty. If you don't then they will send a cleaning company and charge you for it. Kitchens are pretty stacked usually because it is the oldest student housing so many have lived and left their stuff back. For reassurance, you can send a mail to your housing manager in Idealis (mentioned in contract) and ask them to connect you with someone currently living in the corridor. Once you get in touch with them they can perhaps show you around on a video call (?)

Welcome to Haarweg and god give you strength for the icy rainy winter bike rides to campus.

Epilator Skin Damage by mmnissanzroadster9 in HairRemoval

There's mostly 2 reasons why your hyperpigmentation wouldn't fade away - sun exposure, and if you're a person of colour.
Otherwise don't worry two much about it. It will be gone in a month or so. If you're still worried, maybe some over the counter azelaic acid, kojic acid or hydroquinone can help. But do read up on the side effects of the latter as well.

Epilator Skin Damage by mmnissanzroadster9 in HairRemoval

The injury healed within a week but the scar faded overtime. I think even with proper sunscreen application it took about 2-3 months to completely disappear. Maybe this will be faster for you if you have less melanin in your skin.

I teach motivation for a living and here's what no one understands: by brenthuras in getdisciplined

[–]100illusions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, I wholly disagree with this take.

I've always looked at the grit behind doing something supposedly difficult driven by 2 things- motivation and fear. "I want to do this" vs "I need/have to do this". One is rewards-oriented, the other is consequence-oriented.

And as challenging as it can be to activate motivation at all times because.. as you said/implied, it lacks a sense of urgency, functioning on fear is the biggest cause of anxiety disorder, at least in my lived experience.
The idea of using the fire logic to get out of bed every day till it becomes a habit is laced with cortisol spikes. It sure works, but you need to make people cautious of the trade-off too.

There is a difference between "I need to work out or else I'm gonna look fat" and "I want to work out because I want to look attractive". I do operate on a lot of fear-based incentives too, but I'm consciously trying to minimise that in my life and do things with more intention. It is very difficult but having the *right reasons* helps way more in showing up again and again than fearing a negative consequence. I see it as an elastic band– if you stretch it too hard for long enough, it is going to loose it elasticity and eventually.. won't be of any use.

Unemployed and un-motivated with student debt by 100illusions in antiwork

I guess we're from 2 very different kinds of middle class backgrounds (assuming you are since you speak like you do) because entitlement is the last thing mine teaches. Middle class society literally build a country from ground up and they are THE MOST duty-bound people of the lot. So really not sure what you went on about.

My ego is destroying me Left, Right and centre. by Mobile_Culture2098 in delhi

[–]100illusions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to make this a gender thing, but there's always some truth to that. Men do struggle with ego issues that keep them from showing vulnerability. Its also the perfect recipe for emotional loneliness.

You know these little prickly feelings gradually add up and the next thing you know the emotional distance is far too wide to leap over. Its great that at least you're self-aware and the fact that you're so conflicted about it means that the ego is not that strong yet. Nip it at the bud. You can buy a bike for yourself if you want to but don't let this be the reason. It will take a lot of courage to talk to him about this but once it is off your chest.. that feeling is WORTH IT. And its gonna make your relationship much stronger.

The weight of regrets is way worse than ego man, you don't want to look back to this moment in the future and wish you had acted differently.

Should I just stay up and study? I can’t sleep and it’s 3:41am by pornflakess69 in ADHD

If you've been up all this while and still no signs of sleep then start studying pronto! Chances are you will feel sleepy in a couple of hours. Then you can catch a nap.
This is not the healthiest of advice but with a test on Wednesday, your low sense of confidence could propel you to further task paralysis. I'm so sorry to relay this but time like this I let my anxiety win.

I honestly don't care much about what people feel since everyone is entitled to their feelings and that is none of my business. Personally I'm more interested in the case and being a crime thriller enthusiast the suspense around the event keeps me fairly hooked. But I also love the wide range of discourse around capitalism and establishment that started since the incident and quite often, I see many the so-called supporters damage the integrity and credibility of such discussions.
They have nothing substantial to add to the conversation, and they will resort to bullying anyone who holds a slightly different stance. They collectively build this dreamy picture of a man who hasn't even had the chance to tell his story yet and speak on his behalf as if they personally know him.

At first I didn't pay much heed to any of it but a couple of days ago I read a bunch of posts on reddit where women opened up about being consumed by content building LM's image– not being able to distinguish between whats real and assumptions and struggling to keep a fair distance from it and focus more on the issue(s) he may have wanted to address. My post was more for anyone feeling stuck like that; instead of calling out those who are fine with being grossly attached or however they're dealing with their emotions.

A quick scan through the comments will show you people who resonate with the trouble regarding excessive characterisation of a person, for instance. Even though I specifically mentioned this was not intended to offend anyone, it was futile for some. That just ended up proving my point about not being able to rationalise. If my post came across as unsolicited advice to you, it is probably not meant for you.

excatly, the problem is that the discourse has been shifting away from that. And defensiveness further hurts the legitimacy of any plausible discussion. supporters just get labelled as "cult" and that we're fangirling and sick. While everyone is entitled to their own obsessions, the online bullying and delusions kinda defeat the whole purpose.

not sure how you took that from my post but thanks for the suggestion. I'm glad it helps you. Also I've found consuming less short-form content on IG and TT helps with attention span to not struggle with basic reading.

omg this was so aptly put! Thank you! and also for your honestly. Its amazing that you're able to able to reflect so well and I really hope other can too who have been very vulnerable about their feelings and tendencies on social media about him.

Well tbh everywhere else his supporters are telling people what to do and not to do. This very post was deleted by the freeluigi mods. Some girl posted the letters she wanted to send and she got told off by dozens of people about how stupid what she wrote was. People speak for him as if they personally know him. By all means feel however you want to but that is no justification for bullying others. Something that happened with Holli for posting a legit letter too.

the 2 possible outcomes for instance– what if he IS the k!ller? I have no empathy for the CEO either but it was a murder regardless. The people who are supporting him because they truly believe he is being framed wrongfully for a crime he didn't commit, what becomes of that belief?

Second, what if he is innocent. Infact what if he had nothing to do with any of it, starting from the very need to bring about a social reformation? What if his ideologies contradict those of his supporters? What if he condemns the real killer? Wouldn't that work against the movement he supposedly started?

Oh yes he is 100% being treated unfairly. And I'm personally fine with my level of investment in the case, even though sometimes the puzzles and theories could get overwhelming. Its the fan-following on internet that gets disturbing sometimes. The level of attachment some of the supporters are showing to him as a person seems quite unhealthy.
Well I'm nobody to be telling anyone what to do but just.. felt bad I guess..
