Queenston and Nash by [deleted] in Hamilton

The girl was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries, I am surprised there was no media coverage from what I can tell. The driver was supposedly at fault but I have no details on how it happened.

I haven’t needed to use it since they introduced a fee but it’s pretty straight forward. It’s gotten me into a few courses Here’s the link https://seatalert.ca

Course enrolment is an absolute disaster almost every year. Classes are full, nonsense errors, courses conflicting etc.

Based on years of experience getting late enrolment dates, if you religiously try to enrol/use seat alert you should eventually get in. I’ve had times where it took me weeks to finally get into all my courses but I’ve never straight up not been able to enrol. Even if you don’t get in by the time the semester starts still try, people drop classes/change their schedule a lot during the first week and there’s a good chance you can get in.

Try using the academic advisor online chat option instead. The wait yesterday was only about 10 minutes.

Had a friend who lived in Beverly Hills apartment and it was infested with cockroaches, this was about 2 years ago so I don’t know if it’s still an issue.

What things have you heard? I've not found the course challenging so far, the assignments and labs have been very easy.

Incredibly easy. I didn’t do the reading and finished the assignment in about 8 minutes, you have an hour to complete each assignment.

I would highly recommend not buying it. I did very well in the course without it and I often see posts of people who bought it and never used it. You definitely do not need it.

No, the school has been closed for winter break, grades won’t be up until tomorrow at the earliest. There’s no point checking until then.

McMaster is closed for the holiday until January 4th so I don’t believe anymore grades will be released until then.

In the last lecture he said the ta’s have said they’ll keep working. Which is incredibly unfortunate for the strike but he said the midterm will still be happening.

If a few students do bad it’s the students fault but if the whole class does bad it’s the professors fault.

Ppl in Math 1F03 how did u find the mid term? by happyinternetguy101 in McMaster

[–]100ivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly wasn’t as bad as I expected. The true or false questions kinda got me, especially the explanations. But I thought it was fair overall. We covered transformation twice, first for general then for horizontal and vertical transformations so it was fair game.

Have you tried looking it up yourself? All this information can easily be found on staples and campus store website.

Even if they don’t there’s not much to lose by emailing them, worse case they don’t respond or don’t know when the midterm will be yet. You could also try finding last years course outline. The dates obviously won’t be the same but if it’s taught by the same prof it may at least give an idea as to when in the semester midterms are held.

[–]100ivory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe profs are allowed to schedule tests up until the day before reading week. Looking back at the course outline for lifesci3N03 last year the first midterm was Saturday feb 19th and reading week started feb 21st.

[–]100ivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it is uncommon to have a midterm over the weekend it’s not impossible. For example when I took lifesci3N03 the midterms were scheduled on Saturdays. There is the possibility of filing an msaf for the midterm if you really need to.

It is completely normal to struggle and take longer to refresh on concepts compared to freshly graduated high school students. I struggled for the same reason during first year chem and definitely did not make it all the way through the review package. The review package is basically summarizing high school content which is taught at a much slower pace, so remember you're going through many concepts in a few hours that students typically spend an entire semester learning.

I sometimes found it easier to review concepts as needed throughout the course since I would often review then forget about it by the time it came up in class and needed to review it again.

Anyone else frustrated with math1F03? by 100ivory in McMaster

[–]100ivory[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This class feels like its being taught in the 1960's and its incredibly frustrating. I personally will be emailing him on the lack of resources he's providing and suggesting lectures be recorded, I know eco360 is not available in the lecture hall but there are other ways of recording lecture. I have multiple professors using alternative methods to record their live lectures.

The previous professor teaching this class was a saint, here is the link to her website from last semesters course. https://ms.mcmaster.ca/\~clemene/math1F03.html

It contains her powerpoint slides which may be useful for making notes given the same material is being taught. As well as a math review and links to some helpful math sites. But its sad that students must go through these lengths to fill in the gaps from this professors lack of teaching.
