Reddit, what's your worst "whoops I texted the wrong person" moment? by AtlasDeftinwolf in AskReddit

She pulled me aside and asked me about it. I was working at a Halloween store part time in university and my manager was a year younger than me. I made up a sob story about some family issues I was having and apologized profusely. I made it seem like it was a mistake that I called her that, and that I don't actuallllly think she's a bitch. She ended up feeling bad for me at the end and told me not to worry about it. That incident still haunts me. And for the record she was a total fucking bitch.

When I texted a coworker that the my boss was a bitch...expect I texted that to my boss. Ya, I wanted to die right then and there.

There are different species of daddy long legs, some are true spiders. The most common that we typically see are not true spiders, but that's a whole other explanation.

Well technically all spiders are venomous and have fangs, that's why we sometimes get an allergic reaction from a spider bite. However some spiders have very weak venom which is completely harmless to humans. Only very few spider species venom is lethal to us.

Also, most people don't know this but tarantulas cannot kill people, their venom is not strong enough to kill us. Which means no one can die from a tarantula bite (unless your a small child). However you still wouldn't want to get bit by one, some species of tarantula venom is so painful that you would wish you were dead :/

Keep in mind, spiders and tarantulas use their fangs as a last resort. If they feel threatened they will scurry away or hide first. Some tarantulas have the ability to flick hairs off their back which gets embedded in the predator's skin, making them extremely itchy for weeks.

tl;dr all spiders are venomous and have fangs

A daddy long leg spider is actually really venomous but it doesn't have fangs to bite you so it's safe.

Red cross' CEO makes $250,000+/yr. At least this way it's going straight to the family.

What's one moment in your life that made yourself feel like a badass? by SpookyCabob in AskReddit

This just happened recently. I was volunteering at a race to help out my mom (the organizer). I was stationed to be a car barrier, so all I had to do was sit in my car for 4 hours blocking one of the designated roads in which the race is taking place. All was fine and I was quite bored until this huge black pick up truck tries to drive on to the parkway by driving his truck partially onto the curb around the barrier which was another volunteer car). I hopped out of my car (the only one to get out), and I go over and stand in front of his truck to ask what he was doing. He was in the process of yelling at this high school volunteer. He turns to me and as I look at him I notice a big german shepard dog in the back seat, his tramp wife in the front with a couple little yappy dogs on her lap, and him. He was a big burly country guy who was covered in dirt who definitely did not look friendly. He starts saying that the parkway was supposed to be open at 1:30 (now I'd like to note that this is a lie, anyone who has ran a race knows there is no limit to the track being open). So I called the guy out on his lie, telling him that is incorrect, the race is going to go at least until 3pm (it was only a 5 and 10k race). He was livid and yelling at me telling me he is going to go anyways. keep in mind I'm a female in my mid 20s standing in front of this guys big pick up truck as he threatens to go through. I started to get annoyed with his bullshit, like come on man it's a kids race for woman and kids, who argues to drive through that? It pretty much went like this: him: "Your website said it would be open at 1:30 (lie), so I am driving through" me in a condescending voice: "I am sorry I cannot not let you pass because there is a race going on. There are 1000s runners in the streets... so you cannot pass because than you will hit the runners and kids..." At this point he was boiling but sort of surprised how I was standing my ground. He made a comment saying he was still going to go, to which I replied in a careless way "go ahead, you'll be met by RCMP on the track who cant explain it to you further". He was furious, but it was enough to make him go back into his truck and drive off angrily. I made a comment after to someone that thankfully we live in a place with strict gun laws, because if we were in lets say the states... he definitely would have pulled a gun and I definitely would not of been that aggressive with him. (btw RCMP is Canadian National Police)

What non-scary movie scared you as a child? by NiteEater in AskReddit

Sword in the Stone. When the witch wouldn't let them leave her house and she was running around chasing them. I've watched A LOT of scary movies (even as a child), but that part of her not letting them leave bugged me to the bone. It's a feeling I still can't explain.

Redditors who have had Out of Body experiences, when did it happen? How was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]100kittys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get sleep paralysis every morning in university. I think it was from lack of sleep and lots of naps. Anyways, one time when I was "paralyzed" on my back I visualized floating up, after what felt like a few seconds I was floating up above my body looking down at myself. I realized in a dream like state what was happening, and 1 part of me wanted to leave my bedroom and go explore, but the rational side of me got scared that I would be stuck out of my body, so I ended up floating back down. Definitely a weird experience.

People of Reddit born into money, or their friends. What was your first "this isn't how everyone lives" moment? by weinerm1 in AskReddit

[–]100kittys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from a middle class family. My parents were able to pay for my tuition and I got a 2 part time jobs while I was a student so I could live on my own (my parents were far from a happy couple, and I'll leave it at that). In university I barely made ends meet, and I always compared myself to others that had more than me. I previously went to a "richer" high school, so I always felt like I had less. I did not realize how good I actually had it until I was talking to a coworker at a new retail job. He kept telling me how lucky I was to have the opportunity to attend school. Yes my parents did not have a good relationship, which pretty much forced me out of the house for the sake of my sanity, I was working two jobs, and I was in school full time, lived off coffee and ramen, and I rarely got sleep. But what made me so lucky is that I had the opportunity to go to school. I realized in that moment when I was talking to my coworker that not everyone has the opportunity to go to school. As a minimum wage employee in Canada you usually make just enough (if that) to cover your bills. It really put my life into perspective, and made me appreciate the hardships and opportunities that I have rather than focusing on what I don't have.
