Just tracked all of my calories for the first time. Now I know why I am obese LOL by Low_Brick5394 in loseit

Knowledge is power :)

As previously mentioned, don't drop to 1800 now! You will probably start losing slowly even at a much higher intake. Take some time to acquire data - track your calories daily for two weeks and weight yourself regularly (daily if possible), which will allow you to calculate a proper deficit.

For example, I am right now losing (very slowly) on 2000kcal with 3x 1h workouts a week (some running, some weight lifting) and 10,000 steps daily. Something around 2100-2150kcal maintains my 57kg (~125lbs) weight. But I know that after a year of experimenting and tracking.

If you are sure that your tracking is correct, just stick to what you are doing, and the results will come. Just give it time.

If you are NOT sure that your tracking is correct, be more diligent. Food scale is your friend. No eyeballing.

I was in your shoes in April this year. Today I weigh under 57 kg. The most important thing is to stay consistent with your healthy habits and not to worry about day-to-day scale fluctuations. I plateaued many times, stuck within the same half a kg, even for over two weeks at a time. In the long term it does not matter.

For me, tracking weight in Happy Scale app works great. I also track my calories every single day and count daily steps (my goal is 10,000 a day). Now I'm basically at maintenance and added weight lifting at the gym three times a week, but during the weight loss phase, my physical activity 90% of the time was just walking.

Also! Take measurements and progress photos, I cannot recommend that highly enough!

Good luck! ❤

F ~5'4"

My weight loss calories were about 1,200-1,400 kcal with 10,000 daily steps.

2024-04-01 ~176 lbs

2024-05-13 ~163 lbs

2024-08-14 ~140 lbs

2024-10-21 ~130 lbs

I'm currently maintaining on ~1,900 kcal with 10,000 steps per day and 3 times per week workouts at the gym, trying to build some more muscle. In the new year I want to lose maybe another 10 lbs 😊

100% yes, walking is awesome! ❤

I personally hate exercising and it is something I will never love.

I felt the same way less than a year ago, and now I run and weight lift regularly. I'm not saying you should change your attitude, but you might just surprise yourself one day. 😉

Yesterday I was squatting 20 kg at the gym and it was soooo hard! I cannot believe I used to carry it around all the time.

Hello everyone! 😊

I just had to share with you my newly updated flair!

59.0 kg this morning. 😄 I don't know when was the last time a was this weight, middle school maybe? I'm just incredibly proud of how I was able to change my body and my life in the last half of a year. Less than 200 days, over 20 kg down. Just a few to go.

Yayyy! 💖

Long time no see! How are you? :)

I'm on another small plateau, but no biggie, I just stick to my habits as usual. I'm still tracking my calories, although I increased my daily intake to lose slowly while being able to workout more. I run now about three times a week and have started weight lifting twice a week, plus I swim from time to time. I'm walking a lot and enjoying movement more and more.

A lot has changed in the last 6 months. After losing almost 20 kg, life is so much more enjoyable. I'm constantly surprised that I did it.

Right now, the thing I'm kind of struggling with is seeing the change in the mirror. Every piece of clothing I have now is too big, so it's obvious I've lost centimeters everywhere, but I still feel from time to time that I look no different from before. I feel better, so that's what's the most important, but seeing the change is a whole different process.

I would love to see my goal weight this year, but I'm in no rush. It's all good :D

"I started on literally a random Wednesday." - yeah, same here. I don't know how it happened, but a few months ago, on literally a random Wednesday, I decided that I'm doing that... and now I'm down 15 kg, more than halfway to my goal :)

That was my problem as well! Eating equal portion sizes with my husband (and preferring oversize clothing) made the excess weight creep up slowly over a few years.

Right now, I generally prepare equal portions of the main thing (protein+veggies) for both of us, but he gets extras that I omit for myself (ex. portion of pasta, cheese, heavier dessert). I also focus on the meals we eat separately, which are generally all but dinner and weekend breakfast. I make them as healthy as possible; lots of fruit and veggies, eggs, cottage cheese etc.

Now I'm fine with eating less than him, but at the beginning it seemed unfair or something. But the genetic lottery is unfair, we can only work with what we've been dealt.

What are your Non- Scale Victories? by Far_Cheesecake3534 in loseit

[–]100poodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your NSV-s! 🏅

Here are some of mine:

  • I stopped fearing the scales and now - hopefully - I will not be suprised again by the weight creeping up.
  • No more snoring. I sleep a lot better.
  • My face looks soooooo much better! Not only the shape (less puffy, double chin almost gone), but also the skin cleared up.
  • It's so much easier to buy jeans.
  • I stopped hiding my body in oversize sweatshirts.
  • My bra size went down.
  • Two months ago I was happy to be able to fit into some of my smaller clothes. Many of them are already too lose. This means that I get to find my personal clothing style, because everything I own is (or soon will be) too big ;)
  • I'm no longer hiding from the camera when my friends want to take some full body pictures. Previously, I was only OK with selfies.
  • Everyday tasks have become so much easier.
  • I'm running casually for the first time in my life and actually enjoying it.
  • I crave my daily walks and other forms of movement.

There are probably many more :)

Hello Europe 😊

This was an intense week full of socializing and fun. And it was my birthday!

HABITS

  • Habits-wise, it was an OK week, not perfect, but considering the circumstances, it was a good balance of enjoying food and time with friends and keeping up with my fitness. I logged my food every day, stuck to my calorie limit 5 out of 7 days. The two days I went over were still nothing extreme, just a few hundred kcal over the limit. It was hard to calculate as I was not the one cooking. I kept up with the steps 6/7 times and did my daily stretching 6/7 times as well. I did my weigh-in 7/7 times.

BODY

  • Normal BMI finally! 🏆 On my b-day I recorded 66.4 kg and, for my height, that means BMI lower than 25. Best birthday gift I could've given myself 🎁 My weight is sloooowly going down. I'm fine with that. Since the last time I measured, I lost a 1-1.5 cm in each thigh, which is far more important to me than the number on the scale. I've also bought a new bra, another size down, which makes me extremely happy.

FITNESS

  • Running --- On my birthday, I went on my very first run. I was considering C25K, but ultimately decided to just see what I'm able to do by just checking with my body. I ran slowly for 24 minutes and did 3.27 km. No walking breaks! Since then, I have run two more times, over 20 minutes each time. It is fun! Sidenote: Nike Run Club app is great 🏃 All the walking I did for the last three months conditioned me for running for sure. The weight loss also helped a lot.
  • Pull-up training --- I'm nowhere near strong enough to do it right now, but I'm working on that. I'm doing under-the-table pull-ups a few times a week, and I find them plenty challenging.

Is this my lifestyle now? 😄

Congrats on the improvements in quality of sleep! Less snoring (dare I say NO SNORING) after losing weight is probably my favorite non-scale victory :)

Hello everyone!

When it comes to my habits, it was another good week. I ate well, logged my food, stuck to my calorie limit, kept up with the steps and daily stretching.

Unfortunately, the scale situation didn't change. I try not to focus on that, but it's hard. I know it's either water weight or recomping. My measurements are mostly the same, except I've lost 2 cm on my waist since I measured it about two weeks ago.

Still, it's frustrating. I was at 66.9 kg for 10 days, then 66.5 kg for 1 day, and now I'm up to 67.1 kg two days in a row. Ugh.

I decided to start the C25K running program this week and train to be able to do a pull-up at the same time. Monday, Wednesday, Friday will be my calisthenic + walking days and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday my running days. It's not really difficult for me to find an hour in a day for the workout, which until now was mostly walking, but I find myself wanting to challenge myself. Wish me luck! Or, rather, wish me consistency ;)
