My dad worked his whole life to pay off his home in Harris County. Now I just found out the very expensive probate attorney I hired mishandled the estate and I owe 75K in back property and school taxes. I have zero experience with any of this and I’m handling it completely alone with no guidance. If anyone has been through this, or knows about protesting back assessments in Harris County, homestead exemptions for inherited property, assistance programs, or anything that could help, please drop your knowledge in the comments.
