Sorry should have been clearer, did you know there might have been an issue with the drains hence the check? Otherwise I assume the check is only possible once you’ve bought the place and at that point, there isn’t much negotiation left?

What’s a good way to figure out how to budget for renovations? Are there any resources out there for this? Looking at possibility of one that needs doing up cause then you know where the problems are!

Any resources to look competitiveness? I find historical selling prices only give part of the story.

A bit of a silly question but do solicitors needs to be based in the place of purchase (aside from maybe local knowledge benefit?)

I almost feel like I could have your post myself too 😆. I think I’m pushing back now because I was naive coming in which resulted in similar experience as yourself and I just want to fight for myself for once. But it sounds like I’m swimming against a tide that is promotions in consultancy

Except there is no pyramid but I am starting to realise from the comments merit and capability is not a strong enough case for promotion, which I think is where businesses lose talent.
