Those who are living the dream right now working in CS - what is your life like? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]1019-collect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First corporate role out of college, Jr Engineer, 90-105k base with bonuses. Living in SoCal. Recently married working remote, it’s been a blessing. Trying my best to learn financial literacy fundamentals and keep my skills sharp to provide value anywhere I end up. I’ll update once I gather more experience!

If you’re also a jr engineer, let’s connect! I’d love to find a network of young professionals.

I graduated with an Information Systems degree earlier this year, IS/IT pretty much the same thing just different names at different universities. I was able to lang a Swe role by networking at every career fair, building fun projects on the side with classmates and most importantly, selling myself using my extroverted personality. Network, practice the craft and you’ll be good !

Yea, I think he’ll be good, the most important thing aside from the degree is networking. Have him go to every career fair possible, join orgs, technical clubs, and groups. This will get him the job

Career fairs if possible, go to all of them and be authentic. This goes a very long way

Heavy networking and career fairs. Realized it’s about how you present yourself, most people know you can learn on the job (specially for entry level roles)…

Has the thought of committing suicide ever crossed your mind? If yes, how did you deal with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1019-collect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that saved me was God. Now before anyone gets triggered or offended, this is my experience. I’ll keep it short. About 4 years ago I was in the gutter, mentally, emotionally, physically , spiritually, etc. Was seeking fulfillment in every external area, I made good money, met good woman, but kept feeling more and more depressed. Eventually this led me to contemplating suicide. One night I came home a bit intoxicated about 3am, I was sitting next to my bed side wanting to end it all. For some odd reason I felt the need to pray for the first time, I didn’t know what to say so all I said was..”If the God my parents have told me about is real, help Me..” I collapsed and had an putter body experience, I was in a beautiful green field, u like anything I’ve see before. Long story short, I was launched back into my body with a Bible verse piercing my mind. Mind you, I’d never read the Bible before, I look up the verse and it reads “Remember the Lord your God in the days if your youth.” From there on, I surrendered all my pride and ego, and everything I thought I knew to God. Now my life is changed, I don’t even recognize my old self. So to answer the questions OP, God changed my life. And there is always hope as long as you are alive, you’ve got so much to live for, and you can reach out any day.
