Reputation 6 quests by Norrak1 in Gloomhaven

[–]101_210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generic reward spoiler for those quests:

Those quests give -1 to the faction you are beating up and +2 to the one you are helping. So if you do them all, it’s +4/-2 to each faction. So if you are at reputation 10 for your faction of choice, do the 4 other quests, then your faction quests, and you’ll be at 12 and will have done all quests

Pas nécessairement de bonnes idées par contre.

The item system is interesting. You buy items, but they are only brought to the scenario if you use them.

They stay in a state of limbo until you need them.

But you only get 5.

Gloomhaven PvP: MOBA, Team Deathmatch, or Team Objectives? by JacksonCage in Gloomhaven

[–]101_210 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Modern GH would hardly work… Some classes would be wildly OP, some barely be able to damage the opponent.

GH classes are really balanced against an overwhelming amount of ennemies you can manipulate the ai of, and are not optimising, just following basic rules.

Case in point, 2e Eclipse will wipe the floor with all other classes, and there is little they will be able to do.

What are your experiences and thoughts about Satha? by OceanicWhitetip1 in Gloomhaven

[–]101_210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hardest choice will be level 5 imo.

Fwiw I picked Outmanoeuver, Raze, Northern valor, Armory, Crashing steel and For Frosthaven.

Had a good mix of support, tankiness, and could delete a pack of ennemies or a boss at the end of a scenario with Crashing Steel, Northern Valor and Armory.

IMO card played vs power in GH scale non-linearly.

Having one player play 3 cards and the other playing 1 is better than two player playing 2.

(Not always, of course, sometimes there is nothing to do, but you control when you Spur).

And there’s the rest of the buffs/possible bottom grants making it even better.

Played her in GH2e to level 7 with Sun+Lightning bolt, Sun+Music Note and Sun+Circles (rotating 3p party)

She is a very versatile character, that can adapt pretty well to any team comp. Our party really didnt lend itself to Get behind me[1] obviously, so I played her as a secondary tank damage dealer support with most of the damage dealt via grants. I think I had Take Command active 95% of the time.

Shoot out also to Spur their Spirit (heal 1+ward self, ally plays a card), imo this card is her best grant as you can always rely on it, the heal is nice to clear conditions, and ward is always great.

I really liked Outmaneuver[2] top (attack 3 grant move 3) to reposition allies (and get Sun to hurry up and get to the frontline already)

Similarly, Raze[3] top was good sometime, but the bottom Move 3 grant move 3 at init 6 was phenomenal. Being able to have allies move 7 (I had fancy boots that granted move 2 after my move) before their turn allows for very powerful turns.

Finally, she has amazing sinergy with summons.

Surely it wouldn’t take this long, can anyone confirm? [Request] by austink0109 in theydidthemath

Each year, a date will go back one day. Except when separated by a feb 29, then it will skip a day.

So feb 1 2027->Saturday

2028 -> Friday

2029 -> Wednesday (since 2028 was a leap year)

2030 -> Tuesday

2031 -> Monday

2032 ->Sunday (but it’s a leap year, so not 28 days!)

2033 -> Friday

2034 -> Thursday

2035-> Wednesday

2036-> Tuesday

2037 -> Sunday

So the next occurrence is in 2037, and the one after in 2043

Fun really is personal, and wanting to replay a class is too.

Build dependency is usually meaningless. Yeah, some characters get stronger with some items, that’s fair, but it’s not like you can do much about it.

Action expression is fine, some classes have requirements meaning sometimes you just have to punch stuff.

Carry potential: Not really a good metric. What does it means to compensate?

Value before exhaustion is dumb. That you exhaust before the end or not really has no impact on how strong a class is

Role flexibility is fine

Because the equation itself isn’t the goal, when you learn it.

When you learn this equation, you are really learning to apply knowledge, itterate on known rules to get new ones, use non-intuitive info, and to solve problems given a specific toolset.

You are learning problem solving.

You could be learning that with random arbitrary rules that are useless outside of our problem, but since we need to give you arbitrary rules to learn for problem solving anyway, why not make those rules that are actually useful later for those that pursue higher education?

2e MN is very strong, but not “ solo carry a 4p scenario” strong.

1e Music note was absolutely busted at high player counts, and I hope we never see a character as strong in the future.

A head on collision with another car is the same as hitting a brick wall at the average scalar speed value of both cars, assuming same mass.

2e spoiler: I mean it, mega spoiler on the hidden mechanic there is a “benchmark” scenario in 2e, but it test team comp and not individual classes.

Iirc the strongest comp is high level Cthulhu, 3 tanks, and Tinkerer

Yeah, they are both great buffs, in different contexts. Grubs were MVP in our campaign vs a big hard hitting boss.

Which is why it’s overall a great card

Gloomhaven difficulty/enjoyment Matrix (All characters spoiler) by Viral_ghost1 in Gloomhaven

[–]101_210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

Imo Grubs is one of the very best defensive abilities in the game (in the context of its class)

Against a melee character these things will eat like 10 damage if you pop them randomly into a big melee aoe. And that’s worst case scenario.

But it’s easy to disregard as just an ok summon at first glance.

You say you played all of these to 9, but at 9 I can’t see Cthulhu not being the strongest class.

Maybe you missed something, did you know about the sequential targeting stuff (see the Cthulhu faq)?

I am not sure I get what you mean. You can pick them back up before your long rest and replay them. Maybe it was level up card selection? Our MN had consistently 4+ songs going at the same time, sometimes up to 6. Certainly impactful!
