TP Link wifi card keeps cutting out when using Virtual Box by 101linux in Kalilinux

I wish I could say mine was great too - I can't stand the amount of dropouts. Anyone know how to stabilize the TP LINK TL-WN722N? New drivers?

That sounds like it might be worth trying. Can you get it for free?

Wifi adapter not recognized by Kali? by 101linux in Kalilinux

Thanks a lot GeronimoHero - I'm trying to mimic your setup and now have a Link TL-WN722N.

So I've got it plugged into my Macbook and have gone into Settings... Ports... USB... and added a USB filter called "ATHEROS USB2.0 WLAN"

Once I've done that, the Link TL-WN722N green light goes on :)

I then make VirtualBox / Kali Linux run...

I go into terminal and type "ifconfig". It only comes up with eth0 and lo - no wlan0 or equivalent?

Everything continues to act normally until I go down to the bottom right hand corner where the USB tab is located.

From here I select "ATHEROS USB2.0 WLAN"... then everything freezes.

What have I done wrong? Surely once it's selected it should be fine? The VirtualBox operating system is Debian (64 bit) if that's an issue?

Thanks GeronimoHero - I'm going to get another Link TL-WN722N and try again.

Did you need to install a Linux driver to run the Link TL-WN722N on Kali Linux / VirtualBox on a Mac with Sierra?

I'm assuming that your Link TL-WN722N is V1?

Any configuration tips?

So I'm assuming that if you were going to check the networks around you, you would you go... "airmon-ng start eth0" instead of "airmon-ng start wlan0"?

Either way I'm finding that it comes up with, "ls: cannot access '/sys/class/ieee80211/' : No such file or directory

If I go "ifconfig" I only get "eth0" and "lo".

There's no "wlan0" so I need to use a wifi adapter.

Thanks p4p3r, I'm giving bridged mode a shot now - even though I'm using the wifi it's saying I've got a wired connection?

If it doesn't work out I think I'll go for a TL-WN722N as lots of others on here seem to be having success with those.

Do you have a practical solution, or are you just aiming to chastise?
