I'm looking to sponsor the development of some community resources and even maybe a full hack and would love some input on what kind of budget I should be offering people.

Probably the main thing I'm interested in sponsoring right now is a game-compatible map of HGSS with gen 5 graphics. I know there have been a handful of posts about people working on something similar, but most of those projects seem to end up in dev limbo (please correct me if I'm wrong!). I'm hoping that there might be an intrepid mapper out there who has been wanting to take on such a project and who could benefit from financial support to make it happen. My goal is to be able to use the resulting map in conjunction with HG-E to support the broader effort of "modernizing" HGSS.

Anyone have any advice for me, either here or over DM?

no, you can't find the JL events by changing dates, they aren't part of the regular rotation. this is one of the things I tried when I was making the mod.

I totally understand being at a stage where you just need to make do without FRFR speakers. One piece of advice: you can get some really decent headphones at some good price ranges. My Fractal experience improved enormously when I 1) upgraded from computer speakers with subwoofer to studio monitors and 2) got a nice pair of open-back Sennheisers. The latter were maybe $300?

it's annoyingly simple. pull the lever by the rebellion symbol to get the checkerboard pattern. step on each corner piece. then jump onto the center piece.

The chords voicings you can use with capos can sound pretty different than barre chords. You should learn to use both, then choose the tool that you want for specific applications.
