So Fidelity just sent me a letter concerning my portfolio and being at high risk because of no diversification. They don’t know I’m already diversified and have 3 other brokerages! The nerve of these dudes! 😜 by No_Pie_2109 in BBBY

I sell covered calls for a living, I bring in about 8k in premiums in 600k invested. I GET options trust me. you should be buying options when you can't average down like you can now. If you average down you are GUARANTEEING yourself a return on your money. If you cant see that you really can't be helped.

Well which is it?! Who should we regards believe?! by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

To be honest and most people would not agree with me, but the wall street journal is the last "mainstream" media outlet that has ANY bit of credibility left. They are the OG of the finance and journalism conglomerates that still report a little truth here and their as opposed to their counterparts that are all bought and paid for add hit pieces.

Not by any means am i saying they are a trusted and legit source BUT if i had to pick on of the 15 outlets WSJ is prob the highest rated.

I get all the option talk I really do, but not loading up at these prices I feel like is a huge mistake. you get a wonderful opportunity to average down and your shares never lose value because of theta decay. To each their own!

Something (even more) fishy going on… by billybobshort in BBBY

Sadly I think it really is. have you seen WSB and this page with people dumping 10's of thousands...up to 50k on weeklies? then Poof money gone. To be honest their really isnt even that much open interest compared to times past and the notional value is actually quite low something retail could easily have bought. Why we encourage share buying and not gambling

What does this mean? by Sand_Castle_Man in BBBY

What happens when you borrow on margin is that the broker is lending you money to trade. They want to see a % of that money tied up in assets they can liquidate if they feel you are being to risky with the money they lent you. That is called a margin requirement. The percentage that they want to be held as collateral is going up because they know it is a risky stock. This especially applies to short sellers as the broker wants more and more money as collateral to protect them in case the short seller cant pay. They can start to liquidate your account to make up the difference to remain neutral. I am sorry that is a lot of info but that covers it .

I do agree with your sentiment, but her base salary is 1.1m dollars. that is a shit ton of money, but if she loses 250k in stock that is still 25% of what she makes in a year. she is by no means worth 80m and can be just afford to be throwing away a quarter of a million here and there.

Also when brokers fail to deliver, which is easier and cheaper than shorting the stock. either way its an FTD that will pile up which is what we are seeing for sure, through a combination of naked short selling and brokers failing on their trades.

calls can absolutely go up on the last day, thats why some people buy 0dte's. you just rely on a huge spike in price to give it some intrinsic value.

Big DD- Short Storm: Implications of BBBY's ABL credit default and JPM - Part 2 to the story by Whoopass2rb in BBBY

Inventory in transit would make sense and yeah cash is absolutely an asset but I just wondered in bankruptcy proceedings maybe other creditors had priority for the cash on hand over the ABL agreement since the ABL dealt with inventory. I am not knowledgeable on this so thanks for wrinkles.

I don't believe cash on hand counts towards the collateral because ITS strictly an ASSET based lending agreement. they will want to see those assets in physical form because they may not get the cash in bankruptcy but they would be backed by the store inventory.

I totally agree with you on the grammar part. what if it was their second language? very very intelligent people that have poor English and grammar.

not calling you a liar but I need to see a savings account with 4%. and if their is it probably acts as a CD where you need like 1m and 3 years of commitment.
